Looking for a good text-entry phone with occasional web browsing.
The features I am looking for are:

1. Text entry (QWERTY entry, Editing Documents)
2. Design, Aesthetic, Compact
3. Web Browsing, Email

Thanks!

EDIT: Btw, what is the difference between the OS of smartphone and pocket pcs? Can they run the same program?

smartphones like the moto Q or cingular's Blackjack has NO touch screen making navigation sometimes hard (especially when online)

pocket pc are phones liek the htc tytn which have touchscreen wifi and easier to use

for txt entry smth like the palm is a lil hard especially if u have bigger figers the keyboard has these tiny keys so its hard to use but if u get a phone with a slide out keyboard like the tytn it'll be a lot easier

design and size... smartphones are better with these becasue they dont require the touch screen they tend to be smaller there is also pocket pcs which are smaller like the new htc p330

webbrowsing and email, well unless u got uinlimited data plan i wouldnt sudgest going online with any phones w/ out wifi. try to get a phone with wifi and anywhere with hotspot wifi connection then ur on ur way

overall i would say the HTC P4350 is a good phone for you

its small, has a full qwerty keyboard and even wifi

Im thinking about getting the data plan so wifi or not isn't a problem. My primary concern would only be the text-entry and opening documents. Looks like I'll be needing a slide out qwerty keyboard.

Thanks! I'll look into HTC P4350.

As for data plans, I heard about 3G supported phones that can browse the web reaching broadband speed. What other technology besides 3G are there?

Thanks!!

What carrier do you plan to go with? that will help us narrow down the options and give you a better answer. No matter how good the phone is, it is worthless if you have poor or zero reception.

As to the smartphone/PPC question, a smartphone is basically a stripped down PPC. You can read Office documents, but not edit them. Software must be specifically written for the smartphone as PPC versions will not work, mainly due to the different screen sizes and resolution. PPCs usually have faster processors as well, but speed is only in the eye of the beholder on a handheld as far as I am concerned. The cellular networks really play a role int he speed issue IMHO.

Have you looked at the Sony Ericisson M600 (see it at GSMArena.com), it is really cool.
