Help w/ my 8525! Just Got My Slingbox Pro

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I just got my Slingbox Pro today. I have no problems watching my television on my computer.

I installed the SlingPlayer Mobile for Pocket PC v1.1 on my 8525 (the SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Smartphone v1.0.5 said it was not compatible). The program opens and I was able to add my Slingbox.

However, when I try to start a stream, I get the error:

Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connectiong settings, tap Settings.

I get this error whether I am using 3G or Wi-Fi. Does anyone have any tips on how I can get my stream up and running?

Thanks in advance.

Here is a picture of the error I am getting:

Is there some type of setting I have to activate to allow the Slingplayer to use my Internet connection?

try taking off the proxy.

what type of router do you have. sometimes it can be a router issue to connect wirelessly to your network.

Thank you sir, that worked.

Now I just have to get it to find my Slingbox

As for my router, I have a Linksys WRT54G. I think I may have read something about opening port 5001. I'll look into it.

I have a slingbox pro and an 8525 that I watch my cable TV on...

anyhow, are you watching your slingbox on your network? If so then you need to setup remote viewing via IP address. Test this out on another network other than your home one to see if it works. Once it does use the same setup info for your 8525. Setting up the router is tricky, but Slingbox.com has some good instructions if you do a search. And yes you will have to open a port up on your router.

I can sling just fine u just have to open ports on your router. How do you take off the proxy? I have been seeing this info around the forums but with no instructions.

Well, I just turned my WRT54G router into a brick while I was trying to upgrade the firmware to an open source updated version, lol

Not a big deal because the router was old and I wasn't necessarily happy with its service anyway.

I'm going out to pick up the Netgear WPN824 router which got some of the best reviews on CNet. Hopefully that will get things working now.

Just set up my Netgear WPN824. Watched the entire 4th quarter of the Jets/Pats on my 8525

The Netgear was so easy to install and instantly worked with the Slingbox.

I also had Pats -9.5

I streamed over Philly's 3G network with great success.

Now let's go Giants!! (yes, I'm an out-of-towner)

I don't think we have the bandwidth to sling or stream true HD to a cell phone or laptop with an aircard. Plus if it could your pda phone resolution could be no higher than vga anyway 640x480. Most ppc phones are 320x240.

Imagine a small lcd screen at 720p or 1080p lol

i'm trying to do the same thing but whenever I remove the proxy then I don't get internet service at all. I have media works max do I need a different plan?

I have my Internet service set to Media Net. I have removed the proxy server. I have no problems to connect to my Slingbox once I do this.

Are you able to connect to your Slingbox remotely (a connection from outside of your home network)? This was holding me back as my Linksys WRT54G router was not allowing the Slingbox to be connected to remotely. After I got the Netgear WPN824, I have had no problems.

Here is a video I put on Youtube of me slinging the BCS Championship game.
