Hey Guys,
Right now I am looking to get a new OEM Motorola Razr V3 Housing. From what I have read, cnn.cn is the place to go. However, before I order, I have had some questions regarding this particular housing. I've sent two e-mails from my home e-mail account and two messages from the 'contact us' page on the website. It has now been 4 days and still no word. Is this normal for them? I mean, I don't want to buy something I am unsure about. If you guys could answer any of the questions I have, based on your own experience with cnn.cn, I would sincerely appreciate it. First, it says the following in the listing:
Motorola RAZR V3 OEM ice blue housing It comes with faceplate, battery cover, antenna cover, front bottom, front lens, LCD lens, hinges, emblem, rubber covers and tools. The screw insert frame and battery lock are pre-installed.
Does it come with all the necessary tools for the swap? or only certain ones. The reason I ask is other stores I looked at will give one or two torx tools for free and then you have to buy the other one. Second, does cnn.cn e-mail / mail me the necessary instructions to perform the swap? Or am I on my own there. Lastly, when they say "The screw insert frame and battery lock are pre-installed" what parts of the phone are they talking about?
Thank you,
John

You need to buy the tools seperately. You will need the torx screwdrivers as well as some tweezers. Also, they do not provide the instructions, but you can find them here on hofo or google them and they'll turn up.

Thanks, since I do need to buy the tools, which ones will I need? I've read on some sites that you need the Torx 4, 5 & 6, however, in one guide on how to disassemble the Razr housing, it said I needed the Torx 3, 4, 5 & 6. As well, if anyone has any answers to the questions in initial post, I would really appreciate it
Thanks,
John

From my experience, get the hardened steel tip torx. I got the bits at the local hardware store for $.39USD each -- worked great. The case replacement kit I purchased out of HK came with a torx screwdriver, but it had a soft tip and nearly ruined the heads of the screws before I figgered out that with a hardened tip I could get a much more secure grip and not mess up the screw heads.

I don't mean to bust balls, but if you tell a person what to exactly google search for, what is the point when you could have told them the answer in less time that it would have taken to tell them what to google for?
just sayin'. Definitely get hardened steel tips. The Torx screws that hold the plastic piece where the microphone grill is are really tough and I stripped out a few screws in the process. Cnn.cn doesn't have the screw holes threaded, so this makes things even more complicated.

For me, I used a t5 and t6. No t3 here. It would be nice to have tweezers, screw driver when taking out the keypad, and maybe a small screw driver just in case.
