Thanks for your post / reply!

I found that thread but after reading the entire thread some said its better while some said almost no difference, so my question is: Is that upgrade really worth the risks involved?

Also I noticed that you are local and did you notice any weak signal problem on the E61 with rogers?

I went from a S710 and notice the reception seems inferior on the E61 while compares to the S710, is there anything I can do about the setting to make it work with Rogers?

The phone was bought new locally in Markham and seems to be a Asia model with the product code, will that be the reason?

Thanks for your help in advance and I really appreciate for any suggestions / advice!!

I can't get that version. It says the newest for me is 2.0618.06.05 and I updated it last night. One major improvement was the way the phone handles the loudspeaker. Before my mp3 ringtones where getting distorted and now it plays them just fine. I find it's faster to.

Thanks angel_wing0 for your reply again!

How can you look up the Country or origin on the phone?

Mine has Chinese character on the bottom right most key and the phone was bought brand new at Pacific mall in Markham, I really think the Phone was imported from Hong Kong.

Pepsi Man,

What is your product code?Mine is 0524775 and all I found under the battery is "MADE BY NOKIA" never mention where and which facility.

When I look up the link on my original post and after entering the product code I came up with 3.xxxxxxxx version code and when I press the *#000# on my phone it shows the current firmware code which is the 2.xxxxxxxx that you just updated.

Really don't understand why and also on that thread under the main S60 forum someone mentioned about the keypad code and how can I able to find that code and will I mess up the keypad after the new 3.xxxxxxxx version firmware?

I'm confused now and any help or tips will be much appreciated!

0531060 made in finland. It's a vodafone E61. I check the nokia site and acording to them when i punched in my product code the firmware I just updated is the newest. I like the fact u can update your own firmware and not have to pay for someone else to do it.

it's the trend now

Sorry guys just check again my code is 0524755 not 0524775 and it did show the new 3.xxxxxxxx version.

^ yes your phone is likely from hong kong

So did anyone tried the 3.xxxxxxxx firmware with this product code?

What about the keypad code issue?

Still confused so any help will be really appreciated!

Thanks again

I have f/w 1.xxxx still, and only reason I have kept it to this old firmware is that I love the short cuts I have available in internet explorer, like when I press 1 it takes me to bookmars, 2 to search with in page, 3 to take back.

I know when Nokia upgraded the firmware to version 2.xxx or somthing like that they messed up these short cuts, does any one know if these shortcuts were added back?

thanks much

i think u can set them yourself...

Posted by: kamranwpi

What you mean by that?

I think mine is made in Hong Kong as it has a chinese character on the bottom right key. Im running the newest FW on it and it runs a bit quicker.
