Is it possible to put ringones and wallpaper on the 8600 without a cable?

I just got my 8600. I put a 1gig card in it already.

Can I put ringtones and wallpaper on the phone by just transfering it to the card and placing the card in the phone? I'd rather do without bitpim and the cable stuff if I can avoid it.

wallpaper is easy just but it on the picture folder my_pix

ringtones: don't work from the card, unless you hack the phone

so you have to have the cable and bitpim to add ringers to the phone either in the phone or too hack the phone and use them from the card

from what i have beard bitpim works well with this phone, but you need a cable - o well i will just go and get one and save myself brain usage to try and figure how to use from the card

i went ahead and ordered the cable from ebay last night. i already have bitpim.

so even with the cable and bitpim, you have to hack the phone to use the card to store your ringers?

if that is so, i guess that's not too big a deal. this phone seems to have plenty of internal memory and i can use the card to store photos/vids.

that's what i do, I hve over a dozen custom ringers, I don't need a 100 + custom ringers

If you use the bluetooth connection you do not need a cable. Use the Com port that is listed under the BT diag connection.

It was also my understanding that you could load items on the 8600 thru Bluetooth. I just ordered a 1-gig microSD, and a Bluetooth dongle, and was planning on loading MP3s to the phone that way.
