problems connecting LG vx8300 to computer. help?

i installed the driver for my LG vx8300, opened up BitPim, and tryed to connect to my phone. it sees it starts to connect then makes my computer ethier frees or crash. what is going on here? can any one help? Tryed uninstalling and reinstalling BitPimand reinstallign drivers, still is not working. the program seems to work when i dont have a phone connected. the computer also detects my phone as a modem but when bitpim trys to get any information from my phone i get a blue screen (im using windows xp) , or my computer just becomes non-responsive. If anyone could help that would be great
