Ever run into a customer online?

I guess to make this more clear, how many of you have ever run into a customer you helped or talked to or got yelled by online here at HoFo or on any other message board?

You know, for example, you had a hard day at work dealing with custies either at the store or over the phone and then when you sign on here (or any other forum) you see a post about what you talked about and it ends up being that person you dealt with?

Or have you ever started a thread and then it turns out you get a reply from the person you ended up dealing with responding to your thread?

I'm curious because I wonder how some here would handle that. Were you mean/affirmative/polite/etc. or would you be mean to them if they were jerks in person/over the phone/online? Would you point it out like, "Hey, I happen to be the person that helped you and..." then proceed to rip them a new one?

Yeah... something I've always wondered... it's never happened to me but damn I wish it would. I wouldn't make it obvious I was the one that helped them (over the phone) but I'd tell them the same thing if they were right or wrong, etc.

Nope, I did network and get a few phone sales from people pm'ing me. Also I met our blackberry rep via here which I thought was pretty cool

Yes, I worked with a tech who was troubleshooting a very strange routing issue (while on Cingular via ac860 we couldn't access or even ping certain servers but could on other networks). The next day I noticed a post on one of the cingular forums about this very same strange issue. We actually kept working on the issue for some weeks and the customer would post about it online periodically. It was interesting to get his view of it.

Cool cool.... I'm surprised that not a lot of the customers CSR's talk to ever run into the same rep they dealt with online... or perhaps they're just not saying... hmmm....

ive never actually come across one outside of work..but i tell ya..i get alot of the same people..or people that someone i know has had...like credit shoppers and what not..but not out side of work...and if i did..i would probably tell them straight up..that they are jerks..but not so nice..depending on how they were when i took their call

I am hesitant to post some of the worse stuff that happens in the store because I don't want the customer to see it online.

So no, that has never happened to me.

not personally, however I have seen customers talk about people I know online. It only happened once on the cingular.com forums. It was kind of funny cause I wanted to say something, but it would have outed me as a rep.

ive defiantly seen it happen here and blackberryforums
im not gonna get too specific though
only once or twice with me but with co-workers
and not jst cingular
it seems more common with technical issues
ive never seen it with non-technical but i have only worked in technical positions
ive found it amusing
specifically when you tell a customer something and they dont understand or dont believe you and they run to the internet to flame you
then you go online an hour later and see a new posting in your favorite forum discussing the exact same problem you just ran in to by someone with a location of the customer you talked to, same device, same exact everything

its a great feeling when you see other forum members back you up too

I think if you guys get a pretty knowledgable customer in your store, you should smuggly ask, "Do you hofo?"

LMAO. Not but seriously, I have given out the website to a few people myself, if and only if I think they won't ask stupid questions. I have this one guy who is military who comes in all the time. The first time I met him I could tell he wanted to show off his new phone from the way he was talking. It was right after the N80 and N73 release. So I'm ask the question "What kinda phone are currently using?" He quickly whips out his N80 with a big grin on his face like top that...So I took out my brand new(just got it that day) N73 and in my head thought "BAM"(compliments of Rcadden) and turned his smile upside down. I then after game him the web addy. I'm not sure if he is on here. Then again he was carrying a k800 the next time I saw him so he is probably in the unspeakable forum.

So would that be the Sony Ericsson forum or the land of the pink?

I'd rather not go into public detail on who or what, but I did one rather well-known member here a huge favour a month ago...
