Problem: Buy Nokia N80 Now or Wait for Apple iPhone?

I have a choice here, I can go ahead and buy a Nokia N80 now, or I can wait until June for the Apple iPhone. I love both of these devices. The only reason I am confused here is because Apple claimed that the iPhone ran OSX, but I am still unclear on this.. Will i be able to run my mac apps on the phone, or only widgets?

How does this stack up to a S60 phone?
What camera will be better (even though iPhone has no flash..)
Does the N80's browser stack up to the iPhone's built in Safari browser?

iPhone:
Larger screen (3.5")
Large amount of memory
Great battery life
Amazing UI
Smooth GUI
High res display
Touch Screen
Encased in metal
Very thin form factor
On-Screen QWERTY keyboard
Advanced sensors
Google maps/sattelite imagery

N80:
3mp Camera w/ flash and advanced controls +Macro
Slider design
High res screen
Dual cameras
Support for many S60 apps
Sturdy
Lower price
Wireless media sharing
FM Radio
Stereo speakers (i think? if not, how do they sound?)

How is the battery life for playing music on the N80 through headphones?
Does the built in speaker(s) sound good/sharp?

Any other opinions would help a lot, thanks.

Considering the iPhone hasn't even received FCC approval, I'd wait a bit to see what issues arise with the phone, as well as availability and everything else. Theres no way of gauging how limited or wide of a release the iPhone will have

You can find people to testify to the N80, if thats what you're looking for, but there is no point in making a decision half a year in advance based on the specs but absolutely no hands on experience. Everyone is gushing because of what it is supposed to be...execution can fall short sometimes. It could be plagued with problems and be a complete letdown.

Also, from a substantive perspective, many features you listed were purely aesthetic. Nothing wrong with that, but not worth $600 + 2 year contract imho.

I just watched the keynote and got the descriptions and an idea of how it works from there, but I was thinking if the iPhone is a true smartphone or not..

What would you lean to if the iPhone and N80 were both available on the market (based on current known info on iPhone.)

I would honestly lean to the N80 until the iPhone has more mileage. The RAZR has been out for years, and they're still fixing bugs.

As far as it being a smartphone, it will be expandable I'm assuming because of the widgets, but it definitely looks to be positioned more as a media capable phone rather than a smartphone. I think this is basically a next-gen iPod + high-end phone capabilities.

I already have an iPod and a Symbian-based smartphone, so I feel like I have everything I need. I also would NOT want to combine the two, because then you start compromising battery life, etc. I like that I can drain the battery on my iPod listening to it all day, but I can still go out later without my phone being dead.

Apple has never made a phone, and everyone is basing their desire to get the iPhone on it's slick design and shiny appearance and stats on paper. No clue on actual performance, durabilty, or anything else. The durability thing is important to me. I work at a T-Mobile authorized dealer, so I see broken phones every day. A GIANT touchscreen looks amazing, but also looks like it has a bullseye on it.

So yea, I would say N80, until hands-on reviews start coming out of the production model iPhone. Once people start raving about it then, I might consider getting one.

buy now, the Apple phone isn't that great. It's more of an ipod thana phone if anything.

I had a play with an N80 the other day, although it's a tad slow in the whole UI thing, you won't regret it, I'd easily favour it over the iPhone.
