I have been on these threads for about 3 weeks, and i have tried everything that worked for other people and so far nothing has worked for me, can everyone just list what they did here and it worked and bitpim recognized your phone etc etc, so maybe this could help others by having it in one thread...

I'm assuming you're using windows. Go to control panel, System Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager. Click on Ports, Then next to the LG *** it'll say COM *. Now in BitPim manually enter the Port # in the Settings.

If you're in linux just open up a terminal and run su then bitpim and it should automatically detect it as root

Not sure in Mac.. but if someone wants to give me a mac to find out i would be more than happy to take it.. :-)
