Ok just got a v3m from Alltel, its a nice phone. From what i'm reading it's the firmware to have, full bluetooth function, cam, video, mp3, modem, free wap. Well thats nice, but what about the java? Brew is a closed loop, Only the big boys can play. I want java, flash or something. I seen sprint has j2me, could the brew be swaped out with j2me in some way? like a Alltel/Sprint hybrid ?
Another question, does--can Openwave use j2me/flash or can it be switched out with a browser that does? These are just ideas/Questions by the way. with the psp "hacked or not" you can run flash games form the browser/bookmark/memory card. FLASH LITE is being added to BREW, so in theory this should work some how, maby? Any ideas?

Found this on cdmaforums.com:
Verizon Wireless today announced that "Flash Lite for BREW," developed by Adobe Systems and Qualcomm, will allows Flash content to run on its high-end phones.
Allowing customers to purchase applications and automatically "Flash enable" their phones, software will be upgraded over-the-air with an automatic download when a customer accesses Flash-enabled content. In tandem with the rollout, Verizon is introducing enhanced content including new video games from... [Read More]
I think I saw a forum there that had a link for software that will enhance brew.
Sorry I couldn'b be more help. Try planet motox too. I've spent only 4 days surfing forums trying to mod my razr v3m, but not for games right now. Good luck.

thanks, yea i read the same thing too. i've worked a little with flash and having it on a phone would be great. i have been back and forth on every google search tring to bypass brew, with no luck. From what i gather no one can manipulate the program enough to take brew out and put java in. just seems and playing with the file system. has anyone thought of making a phone emultor? /// i know they have, but have they had any success? I really thought they would be more of a following with this razr maxx. it has linux!!!!! HEY I AM A RAZR, I WILL LET YOU KNOW MY SOURCE CODE, TURN ME INTO A COFFIE MAKER OR A REMOTE FOR YOUR CAR!!! but all i am seeing is cool phone, lets unlock some seems..?? I'm pretty sure MOTO saw all the hacks "and the following" for the razr so they said here do what you will.. Normally its the other way like Sony tring to stop the psp, linksys with the wrt54g and so. Moto has opened up the gates for someone to achive greatness, i just hope that person can see this opportunity and take it.
by the way the only reason i'm going to keep this phone is becouse of the massive support it has, i could have a palm or what ever, but this does pretty darn good and doesn't feel like a brick in my pocket

After doing just a little more reading about brew... here's what I'm thinking... Brew is qualcom - there is a seem edit to enable QPST on the verizon razr-- so maybe with the qualcom app uploader- or an emulator - maybe there is a way around Brew.
Just the beginning of an idea that will take more research.
BTW - On day 4 I finally hacked my V3m!
I did a bit of brew research at

good information,,, in the ibm section it said java was/is/could be added to brew. so it seems this brew app is going to be the DRM for phone. I've read about the brew process, and in the testing phase you can load a game/app on to your phone to test it(if you look at the v3m brew/options it has an enable test mode). I'm not sure if you need the digital signature first to do this or not, and not seeing any unsigned brew games anywhere i take it you can't. If no one fines a way to take the brew off the phones soon, its going to be embedded so deep in to the software that nothing will work without it. If you notice nobody really fighting this,,, there just tring to be added in it. kinda sucks to pay ten bucks for a game like tetris that is 20 years old. If brew takes hold---buy game stocks

No one has found anyway to ADD Java, J2ME, or anything like that to the current phones. there was some talk about a Java emulator for BREW (i.e. the Java emulator runs as a BREW app)... But nothing ever came of it for us "end users"... Then again, since its a BREW app, I expect its digitially signed to the handset, so can be "transferred" to another hand set...
As for FlashLite... if/when it ever comes... it may only be available on newer hardware or newer phones.. especially since the "press releases" mention updates "over the air"... of the phones I have only the LG Chocolate (vx8500) and enV (vx9900) have a sticker proclaiming "OTA capable."
My V3C, E815, V710, and the V3M's I got for my parents... do not.

That "OTA Capable" is just a sign that you can activate and program it over the air, so to speak. it's just a sign that you can *228 on the phone instead of having to have it programmed and whatnot at the store... any phone that can *228 is "OTA Capable"....
Also - updates "over the air" to verizon apps mean you just download updates via GIN or similar, nothing fancy like that. my VX8100 has an "OTA Capable" sticker.. same as my VX4000 (i think?, it was an old no-feature like flipphone for a prepay plan ages ago)
