Unlocking the Blackjack

Cingular gave me the unlock code for my Blackjack, unfortunately, i can't find anyone with T-mobile to use their sim card. Is there a way to unlock without putting in a 'foreign' sim?

You don't need a foreign SIM to unlock. I called cingular once they e-mailed me the unlock code and they walked me through the steps.

Take out your sim card. Power up the phone

type in

*7465625*638*

type in the code followed by #(can't remember if that was part of the code or not)
hit green button.
Follow prompts (I think there are some)

Woo Hoo! Just stopped in to the local TMobile store (they were very nice) popped in a T sim card and my Blackjack is now unlocked!

hmmm my unlock code is 8 digits and it will only allow me to enter 6... anyone know what might be going on?

edit* nevermind, just threw dads nextel sim in there and now it is "DONE"

I was told I had to wait 5 days, for an email.

So does anyone have a number for Advanced level tech support?

You could call Stan Stigman (CEO of Cingular Wireless) and even he couldn't give it to you - they don't have them on hand, they need to get them from Samsung on request as it's specific to each phone.

thats not true
i can generate one from my work computer in seconds
but im not supposed to, so i never would
there is a procedure in place for submitting a request that we are all supposed to follow

however, it is my understanding that International Wireless Care, in certain circumstances are permitted to issue one on the spot. but i dont work in that department so i dont know

and in reality, if the form is submitted properly and you are eligible the code get given to you real quick


on another note, there is no direct number for tech support
the number that used to be distributed was never meant for that purpose
you can call enterprise support if you have a PIN, otherwise just call regular 800 # if you want support

I got mine emailed to me within 2 hrs of making the request and thats on the day after I activated my service. They told me that it would take up to 2 weeks and might not be approved at all since I got my phone at discounted price.
