SLVR iTunes won't recognize phone please read...

What I am using is an unbranded L7, I used this guide http://slvr.themotoguide.com/itunes.php to get itunes on my phone and working. I'm not crazy about the way mototunes works and I would love to use iTunes with my phone the way I can with my Ipod.
If anyone has any tips, suggestions or actually knows how to do this I would love to know.
As a side not I have my USB setting to memory card instead of data/fax and when I plug my phone in iTunes on my computer starts but does not see the phone.

iTunes will start but you cannot use the regular iTunes to load in your music, sorry, but you're stuck having to use Mototunes.
