Contacts very slow to respond!

I have tried the Q and now have the i730. I have everything synch'd, but the processor is so slow looking for contacts.

Now I do have 5,792 contacts in there.

Is there anything I can do? Is a Treo faster? I am in my 15 day period with Verizon right now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WM can only handle a few hundred contacts. I'm supprised your phone didn't run out of memory already. You're not likely to find any WM devices to handle your 5,000+ contacts efficiently.

I have a Samsung I600 that it is working on right now. Is a smartphone better than the new WM5 versions?

From what I know, it is a common complain for WM5 devices, Smartphone or PPC. You can't even selectively sync contacts. All or nothing.

I may be wrong, and since I'm at work I can't check, but I thought you could choose what groups of contacts to sync in activesync.

Not on WM5 devices. On previous versions of WM2003 or earlier, you can select categories to sync.

The above quote is from a similar post; this, perhaps, could be what you're looking for.

Best of luck.
