Activation

A friend and I just got new phones today. Because we're on different FANs/programs, the one I wanted was only available to her, so she ordered that one and I ordered the one she wants, and we're going to swap phones. The question is, should we activate the phones and then swap, or swap first and then activate. Does it make any difference?
