does anyone know of any good FREE software for converting different video file types to ones that are suitable for play on the BB pearl????

Hey, mattpatry. I found a good link that answers your questions about video conversion for the BB pearl. I had the same question as you so I went looking on Google and found this: Video encoding for the BB 8100

Hopes this helps you. I haven't tried this method out yet so if you get a chance to do it soon, please reply with your results.
