America_2 custpack code

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: fungied.cheese

Ok, well MANY of you guys seem to be having this problem...so here's some help. This is the customize.xml code for the America_2 region. It is genereic (unbranded) and supports english, portegeuse and spanish (i think?). Flash menu's, camera shutter sound suppress and all that stuff you expect to find in an unbranded phone are supported in this one. So simply, download any custpack you can get a hold of, open up customize.xml (with notepad)
and replace everything with:

Things to look out for:

-you can edit the country's name to whatever country you live in
-the wap/mms settings that are in this custpack...they're for various providers...it DOES

NOT MATTER, when you put this on your phone it will ignore it and move on.
-you can get YOUR wap/mms settings at www.sonyericsson.com

So, once you've replaced the code, simply save. Now put ALL your custpack files into the

own_custom pack folder (it includes ALL those hook files). now, when you go to flash your

w810i, when you check for box for "finalization" and the model shows "w810i", change that

to "custom" and it'll upload the custpack that you just created.

Hope this helps

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I will now try this.

what about the files that come with the custpaks? all of the .itm files (there's 7 of them in the europe_2 custpak i downloaded). are those all the same regardless of which pack you downloaded? meaning... are the files with the europe_2 custpak the same as the files for the america_2 custpak?

Posted by: jhcodafa

First of all, I'd like to really thank you fungied, You posted a lot of things on this site and answered a lot of my questions. You are a great part of this community. This all worked great for me!

right... that's what i meant. are you supposed to NOT use those files then when you make your new custpak, or are those files all the same regardless of which pack they came with... so it's fine to use them?

I'm not sure if the files are all the same regardless of the pack they came from. I believe they vary, but it doesn't matter. You just have to pick the pack you want and then switch the text in the .xml file with the text fungied kindly supplied us with in this thread. I used Europe 2.

Posted by: -enigma-

so do you mean, then, that you don't even need those files? as in you can just delete them from the directory and have only the xml file in there?

Posted by: kapildevn15

ok guys here is my situation. i downloaded this custpak W810i_CDA102494_2_EUROPE_2. i unrar is file and got a "tpa" folder inside it. went inside that folder and got a "preset" folder and then "custom" folder. then i edited the customize.xml file and copied the entire code that fungied supplied here. i saved everything. now when i go to flash my phone should i place "tpa" folder in own_custpak or should i just place all the hook files with customize.xml in own_custpak? thanks in advance

Posted by: jhcodafa

@enigma: you DO need them. i would NOT delete them.. theres no reason to
@kapildevn: i answered your pm.. the whole tpa folder goes into "own_custpak"

Posted by: kapildevn15

thank u very much

those files just upload those "wap links" you see...for example, when you browse through pics you get that thing you click on that takes you to the SE wap site for your photoalbum..it's all the same in every custpack...and, if you delete them it wont matter..just means the wap links wont be uploaded.

Posted by: kapildevn15

flashed my w810i and works great. everything. thanks u guys.i placed the whole tpa folder in own_custpak. works like charm.

Hey fungied.cheese,

just wanted to say, your info and posts are very very imformative and helpful! Thanks man.

One quick question tho, about the custpack you listed on the first page of this thread. Is it suppose to be 911?
<type>police</type>
<number>991</number>

Thanks again,

those .itm files are just for the downloads link in each folder like "download more ringtones". If you delete those files, you remove those links from the menu. Thats basically what i did so in my folders i just have the files that I want, and not some link that tells me where to download more stuff.

this was taken from ESATO:
Quote:
l)Removing the SE Links in folders
Go here tpapresetsystemcustmenu, and
tpapresetcustom

Removing all the files from the custmenu folder, and all the .itm files from the second custom folder successfully removed the content hooks, as well as resetting my Play Now icon to the default SE one.

itm's are tar files with images and xml files inside. The itm sits in presetcustom and get's unpacked to presetsystemcustmenu on master reset. So DESKTOP_HOOK_1.itm contents get unpacked to
presetsystemcustmenuDESKTOP_HOOK_1 when the phone is reset.
