Almost going to pull the trigger on a KRZR, but

I'm in the market for a new phone, and most likely I will be getting a KRZR. I'm mainly getting it because I'm looking for a phone with really good syncing capability, and there aren't a lot of non-smartphones that have good syncing capabilities. Based on the iSync list at the Apple website, it looks like Motorola phones are pretty good at syncing. But, before I tie myself down to a phone for a few years, I have a few questions.
Generally speaking, how long does it take for a phone to get third party stores like Amazon and Best Buy after release? I've noticed that third party stores are generally cheaper then Cingular stores. I know about buying unlocked phones, but I think that getting a good phone deal and then paying the EFT if necessary is about the same anyways. Right now, Letstalk.com is $149 without a rebate, which with the EFT is about the same as getting it unlocked.
Also, I'm kind of hesitant to get a Motorola because I've heard so many bad things about the UI. Is the KRZR UI improved over the RAZR UI?
Thanks

im sure krzr has the same UI as the others. Moto needs to update.

The best deal I've seen so far was in a retail electornics store, I think it was a Best Buy, and it was 99.99 after rebates with a new account.
The Krzr K1 does use the Motorola software that will be familiar to anybody who has used Motorolas of the last few years, like the Razr and Rizer.
However, in my experience the Krzr software is pretty speedy. It is visibly quicker than my V3i.

the KRZR UI is pretty much familiar but it looks different. Not the plain old blue boxy stuff..
Motorola RAZR = Windows 98
KRZR = Vista
