Just bought a krzr k1 and can't figure something out.

On previous phones I owned I could have used separate rings or notifications for contacts for when they phone me or txt me. Meaning for ex. if joeblow calls I here the theme to star trek but if he txt's me I here 007 ring. With this krzr it seems I only have one option, so when contact txt's me i jump to the phone thinking its a ring, when I really didn't have to because its only txt coming in.

Anyone know a work around or am I missing something?

The name and or phone number that you want to have your special ringtone for has to be saved in your phone memory and not your sim card. I am only assuming that you have the GSM version because you put K1 and not K1m.

I guess I wasn't clear, I am saving in the phone, not thes sim. My problem is I don't want the same ringtone that I've assigned for a contact to also ring when that person sends me a txt. I often have my hands full and don't want to drop everything for a txt message however I can't tell if its a phonecall or txt because it seems the krzr (gsm) won't let me have to separate rings for txt and phonecall for a contact.

Thanks for your help, I however don't know anything about all these tools (software) that are used to edit seems and such. I've tryed running a few but can't get the software to even see my phone, Other than Moto Phone Toolsv4.36 software that is. I can't believe moto could be this foolish.

With most Motorola phones you set a Ring Style. There should be a Detail under the Style where you can fine tune the individual sounds. The alerts for messages should only ring once while voice calls should ring until you answer or until the call goes to voice mail. Wait to see if you get a second ring before you jump up to answer the phone.
