Does anyone know of a solid 8390 faceplate that DOES NOT creak when u squeeze it? I want something more stable then the standard ones that seem to make the phone flimzy. Do the metal ones make it more solid?
Let me know,
Thanks!

the OEM one shouldnt be filmzy at all?
if you want Metal faceplate you can look thru ebay or ask GNOSIS since he have one on his 8390

my suggession is not to take apart your phone always so it wont make the faceplate loose

Yeah, most if not all 8390 phones are creaky.

Metal will definitely take care of that problem. You could also go with an OEM 6590 housing. I have an extra one if you're interested in mint condition, no scratches. I'll throw in a black crystal 6590 keypad too if you're interested. It's not creaky at all. Nice and snug.

will a 6590 housing work on the 8390?

Yes, but no one has yet to tell me how to do it without breaking the phone.... like I did to mine....

start by removing the tabs on the faceplates...

I've said it before, I'll say it again...

I have a 6590 faceplate that will fit the 8390 phone, keypad included. It is an extremely high quality replica. I'll sell for $15 shipped within the US, $20 shipped to Canada.

I just bought an almost new 6590 and was suprised at how creaky it is. My 8290 isn't silent but it's much much quieter than this one... however, it does look very nice.

I actually like the OEM bronze colored face plate, but i'm afraid i wont be able to find another one when this one starts to look a bit worn.

GNOSIS: is that the one you're trying to sell?

What is it with the Nokia LCD lenses, they always get little miniscule scratches on them no matter how well i try to treat the phone. The OEM ones are bad enough, once i bought an aftermarket faceplate for my 8290 and in about a week just from having it in my pocket the thing was so worn that it was hazy. Now i'm afraid to spend more money on aftermarket.

The tabs?? I was thinking (and maybe this is what you mean) was that the buttons (Power, volume up/down) need to be cut off with an exacto nife.... it seems that they are a little too long. Is this what you mean? Whenever I can afford to fix my 8390, I would like to use 6590 covers in the future...

Well, I don't need a faceplate.... I am just trying to figure out how to put one on without breaking the damn phone. I was told I would be able to just snap the thing on, but that obviously didn't work....

no no no....not the buttons..leave them alone..
i was referring to the tabs on the top of the faeplate, the one that snaps onto the phone...
as for the button's tabs..i never heard/read anything about them needing to be modified...

try the top tabs first...someone actually ahve a thread here with the illustrated instructions on which tab has to be removed...so try browsing for it...about 5-6 pages back...

good luck..
