Does anybody know what the deal is with this phone? All i know is it should come out Spring 2007. I 'm thinking of selling the 8525 and getting this for the built-in GPS. I also hear there are some other upgrade from the TYTN.

HTC Kaiser is an update to the TyTN (Cingular 8525) and its most significant change is the added GPS navigation: this turns it into Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone with 400MHz Samsung processor, operating in quad-band GSM and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA networks, featuring Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS.

Any other news from CES?

I bet that the price will be between $600 and $700. That is how much the wizard was, and how much the hermes was, and it will be how much the Kaiser will be too. I can almost guarantee it.

I was thinking mid-700's upon release. I really doubt it will be anywhere near $600. I thought the Wizard and Tytn were in the 7's as well?

I'm interested as well, but if GPS is the only difference between the 8525 and the Kaiser, I'll stick with my BT GPS reciever, especially if the Kaiser is larger and/or doesn't have a battery strong enough to support the PDA and GPS simultaneously for a while, or if it's significantly more $$$.

You might be right about that, Whatever it is, I think it will be the same as the TYTN was, and The Wizard.

I do recall reading somewhere that the Kaiser was a little bit thinner, but don't quote me on that as I may be mistaken. Also, given that the phone wont be out too soon, it's probably safe to say it is running Crossbow.

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i read (skimmed at the specs) that link about the kaiser

besides widows mobile 6 which may have lots of bugs at first i dont see that much of a difference

There isn't, and for some, that's kind of the point. The thing doesn't have to shoot fireworks to be cool. The Tytn is a great device, the P4550 is just a step up from that. That's also likely why they only added a "-50".

For those who have been holding off on getting a Tytn, the specs on this thing are well-worth getting excited about.

Take a look at the side by side comparison of the TyTn and the Kaiser.

IMO, the Kaiser wins. Not in a big way, but big enough for me to wait on the Kaiser rather than purchasing the TyTn now.

The perfect phone for me would be the Eten M700 with extra buttons, and
Windows Mobile 6.

Or a slimmer 8525 (don't say 4350 please) with GPS and a 400mhz non oomap cpu.
And Windows Mobile 6 of course.

I am definitely waiting a month or 3 to get my next phone.
Finally the ones with all the features I want are going to be released.

GPS, Windows Mobile 6, good CPU, touch screen and full keyboard.

Of course the Kaiser wins, its the newer model.
Correct link http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacom...id1=733&id2=506

Im jumping from verizon ASAP, just considering when the best time (and when I have the cash for toys like this) will be. Kaiser is definently on my list.

Now why cant HTC put out the wings with a touchscreen?!

That side-by-side is good....

...but come ON guys, double the RAM already!
