blackjack getting 215Kbs on edge. How is this possible?

I ran a mobile speed test on dslreports.com with my blackjack. Somehow i'm getting 215kbs on the 1 MB test. I ran it 6 times and it was always right around 215Kbs. I thought edge topped out at 135kbs. how is this possible?

My phone has the "E" to indicate edge network. and cingular says we wont get 3g coverage here until the summer. Is it possible i do have some limited 3g coverage allready and its not telling my phone to display the 3g icon? Or is edge really capable of 215 kbs

Mine does it pretty consistantly here I've been as high as 240k

caching of those speed test websites making for erroneous speed reports- most likely

Or, you're the only person on that cellsite and getting all the downlink channels- doubtful

caching would make sense. except i got 225kbs on my very first test that i ever ran on this phone

The proxy server caches and compresses the speed test data. Remove the proxy sserver and you will see your speed drops immediately.

That is true. i noticed the difference on my 8125 when i had that. without the proxy i was getting 100kbs. but with it i was still only getting 140kbs. Is the blackjack just faster for some reason? I have suspicion that cingular gives preference to 3g phones to make it faster even if there isn't a 3g connection.

The blackjack and 8525 have a feature called ETSB and it provides for faster data speeds.

I thought it was possible that edge could reach 240kbs. Oh well shows what I know

Well, i for one, say that that is amazing. I really dont like the blackjack(i miss the features of my 8125), so i ordered an 8525 and i was worried that i would have to give up these amazing speeds. I'm glad i dont have to. I wouldn't want to go back to the comparatively slow browsing speeds i got with my 8125.

What sites are you using to get those speeds? I can get 980 on my Blackjack using dslreports.
