I found a pretty much brand new razr v3 friday afternoon. now its monday and the service is still on. there was nothing in the phone though. no contact numbers or anything. i also heard u have to change the esn number but i dont know how. its a nice phone and i would like to keep it . so if u can help at all please let me know. thanks

Once the person who lost it reports it lost or stolen it will be renderred useless. I have had 2 cdma phones stolen and once reported the esn is disabled. I think they can be changed but phones are so cheap overall it doesn't pay.

but what if it isnt reported lost or stolen. whoevers phone it was either doesnt know yet??? or they dont care because the phone still has service. also dont know if it matters but the phone doesnt use a simcard.

Try to return it first! You can search in the Recent Call list for dialed numbers or Recieved Calls. You could even look in the phone's info and know what the phone number to that phone is and call it and leave a message.

ya i searched the whole phone its like whoever had it cleared out everything. would i just return it at a verizon store? also i heard sometimes they give u money like a reward?

All morals and ethics aside...

to use the phone... the ESN number must NOT be attached to an account already (i.e. can't be active on someone else's service), and the ESN must not be listed as Lost/Stolen.

I agree with Tyler Durden... power the phone off/on.. or use the menu to get the phone number... Call it, and leave a voice mail message... try and return it to the owner...

If you contact the owner, and he/she doesn't want it back, and assuming they are not going to report it lost/stolen... you can then use it AFTER they have taken its ESN number off their account....

If you take it to a verizon store, I'd be suprised if they give you a reward... after all... if the phone wasn't found, the rightful owner would have to pay FULL RETAIL for a new phone (unless they were at the point in their contract where they are eligble for upgrade pricing..)

ok well i tried calling the phone to get to the voicemail but a message came on saying the phone is currently undergoing registration and validation something..... i mean whoevers phone this was has probably gone and got a brand new one for free. so is there anything i can do? besides let it sit on my dresser and look cool?

Posted by: !-OMAR-!

why dont u just call verizon and give and tell them to help u locate the owner

Posted by: pooter345

umm ya thanks for not helping

Look, I am going to put it in laymans terms for you. RETURN THE PHONE THAT YOU FOUND THAT IS NOT YOURS!!!! It is simple. You found it. It is not yours. Return it.

If YOU lost the phone, wouldn't YOU want it back?

Jeez. Some people these days.

The ESN number is part of the phone and can not be changed

Posted by: pooter345

whats the point of returning it??? do you honesly think the person that lost it is going to get it back if i return it to a verizon store?? doubtful. if you lose something in the world today besides something over $1000.. consider it gone. also the person has made no effort retrieving his phone so it obviously isnt that important to him.....

This is all because of people like you. If you returned it, things wouldn't be this way, now would they?

If the ESN is blacklisted, forget it, you will never be able to use it. So what is the point of keeping a phone that you cannot use? Do you plan on using it as a paper weight?

Posted by: pooter345

well it takes nice pictures and videos... plus it makes a nice looking address book

That is nice. Return what is not yours. You are a complete tool for keeping a phone that is not yours, that you cannot use, and that you are using a camera and your day planner.

I hope you get what you deserve.

Yep, it is a phone alright. One that you can't use.

Going to a Verizon store they should be able to lookup the ESN number and check who the owner is. They can then ship it to that person (they wouldn't want to give out personal info to the 12 year old kid who found it )

LOL!!LOL!!
