So how did everyone get their contacts and numbers into the M1?

Sprint stores and customer service cant help me. Future Dial Snapsync software does not support it. I have 219 numbers to transfer and no help at all.

ANYONE?

I got tierd of not having my contacts loaded, so I just turned on Sprint's Wireless Backup ($2.00) and cut and pasted all of my numbers into the webpage. It sure beats typing numbers into a phone's keypad.

Thug541, When you bluetoothed into your phone, Does it let you add entries as a big file? Where did you upload the info for contacts. I don't have a bluetooth recvr for my laptop so I don't know how it's looks when hooked up.

Well two ways. My old phone had bluetooth and I was doing them one by one that way. Then when I got home, I just uploaded the rest on my computer with my bluetooth dongle, then sent them to my M1 from my computer. No hassel at all really. The contacts load up in Outlook. Then you can send it from outlook as well.

Thanks, My Snapsync program by FutureDial did the same thing with outlook and didn't have any drivers for the M1 phone.

I took a different approach. i had outlook create a VCARD file then moved this file to the phone (using it in Mass Storage mode). Once its on the phone I used the file explorer and opened each of the VCARD files to import them. Then did a multiple remove of the vcard files.

Not as simple as BT or other software, but sometimes you just have to make due...

I just received my M1 yesterday and when I was trying to move my contacts from Outlook to my phone through bluetooth I received a message saying that the request could not be honored. It only happened on about half of my contacts. Has anyone else received that message and know how I can fix the problem?

I haven't tried moving contacts from it but i will in the next couple of days . I will let you know how mine went I am moving mine from a previous sanyo phone that does not have bluetooth but there is a way. I will post a detailed description on how i did it.

dh80:

I don't know what it is. But this sounds like what just happened to me with a similar phone.

I just tried moving my address book from my Tungsten E2 PDA to my 8400. I had about 490 contacts in the PDA. And they all fit in my previous Sprint phone (a Nokia 6165i).

When I tried to move them over Bluetooth (go in to address book and do "Send Category"), it connected with the 8400. And the 8400 chugged away saying it was receiving them from my PDA. Then after about 60 seconds it said "contact memory full". It crapped out with about 360 contacts.

Then I erased the phonebook and use an exported vcard file from the Palm Desktop on my and read it into the 8400 using the uSD card. It read them in and crapped out at 360 as well.

I'd venture a guess if you erase your addressbook and then try the copy again and look closely at your M1 you'll see that you've filled its contact memory faster than you thought you would.

Yes I just highlighted the ones I wanted to transfer into the M1 which was about 99 contacts. It would transfer about 22 and then it would give the message on the remaining contacts. I did once try to add a contact individually and it gave the message again but I went in like i was going to edit the contact and resaved it without changing a thing and it worked the next time. I have went through and deleted them all and tried and it would still only send about 25. The memory isnt full as of yet.

Does anyone know how to delete every contact at once. I looked but couldnt find out if there was a way and had to delete everyone one by one.

Is there any programs I can purchase to make it alot easier? I have always had Motorola's and Nokia's so I was able to use there programs but I didnt see that Sanyo offered one.

I did notice that the M1 had issues with moving contacts from outlook that had a picture attached - even though it can support contact photo's. I had to remove the photo (which is ok since the photo for the M1 is much higher quality than the 6700).

I did notice that a few of my contacts did have pictures in the outlook file. I guess when i was using the Pocket PC the pictures were sync then. But only about2 contacts out of the 90 something had pictures. I guess i'll just have to add them as its allowed.

actually i just got my M1 (switching from cingular to sprint) and i bluetoothed everything over, including my ringtones, phone book, songs, movies, and pictures. couldnt have been easier. it even sent the pics with the phonebook entries all in 1.

just hoping the service is good, have heard alot of bad stuff about sprint, but for the price ill be paying per month, and the $100-$130 ill be saving a month by going with sprint, im sure ill be able to live thru a couple dropped calls

Mines only sent the phone numbers, email addresses, and addresses. It didn't send the pictures. I guess it's a problem with my computer when sending contacts through bluetooth. I found out that if i send about 20 at a time it will send all of them. But if i tried to send all, 92 contacts, at once it would transfer about 27 before I get the error message. Then i would have to restart my computer and still wait for about 30 minutes.

The way I moved my contacts from my 7400 to my m1 was to use bitpim with the 7400. You will want to download all the contacts to bitpim and then export from bitpim as vcard. This creates 1 file. Then use the usb cable and attach the m1 has a mass storage device. Move the vcard into the voice folder. Then use the phone and go to the file manager and choose the vcf file and then choose import. That will import all your contacts. It worked for mine. I think there were just a few missed numbers.

actually i did it from phone to phone, im not sure how it works from the pc, but i think you will need a bluetooth dongle, if you do have one then you must sync your phone to your computer, and i believe theres a copy/transfer option in outlook that will let you transfer everything.
