This has been discussed in depth in another thread.
First, if the phone did get wet, you might as well replace it.
Second, if the phone did not get wet:
Definitive answer on the cause:
The issue is related to a circuit within the main PCB. We just sent a several to Motorola (as did another shop we work with) - ALL were replaced.
This indicates board level short.
As an experiment on one, we replaced (one by one for control purposes and using brand new parts from Motorola directly):
LCD
flip flex PCB
Key flex PCB
Camera module
all housings
Still a white LCD.
We took a brand new v3c and swapped main PCBs. The problem followed the phone that had the original issue. That isolates the porblem to the main PCB.
I pulled all of the shields and reflowed the solder and visually inspected alll soldered points under magnification. NO damage was found and the white screen remained. That tells me a chip failed.
I have yet to isolate the chip or chips, but effectively, these phones are beyond economic repair and Motorola even replaces them.
