My wife just got this phone and she loves it. She likes some of my wave alarm files and mp3 ringtones (edited using Audacity) and thinking of how to transfer from my Cingular 8525 to her phone? Will bluetooth be able to handle file transfer, if so, what are the steps (never used bluetooth except for the headset). If not thru bluetooth, what are other options?

Thank you.

Very quickly (because it's 2:46am here), bluetooth is not only going to do the job, but is the best and easiest bet for you.

Firstly, you may have to enable bluetooth (BT) for data transfer using the "secret" menu in the cu400. (directions can be found here: http://blog.qx92.com/2007/01/how-to...on-your-lg.html )

After you do that, you will have to turn the BT "on" on both phones, and "pair" the two phones. (You will have to use one phone to search for other "Bluetooth Devices.")

You will be asked for a password on both phones, just pick a simple number. Once it is entered in both phones, each phone should be listed as a "trusted device" (or similar wording) in the BT menu.

Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to select an audio or image file, and using the menus, "send" it to a "BT Device." The other phone should be listed, and when you send it, the receiving phone will ask you if you want to accept the file.

You may not be able to send files that are otherwise "locked" on your phone (original ring tones, or certain downloaded tones). Your results may vary.

A similar method (of pairing your phone via BT) can be used to send files to your phones to be used as ring tones and back grounds from your computer, free of charge. (assuming your phone supports that particular file type)

For more complete instructions, your manual should outline the pairing process and adjusting BT settings.

Good luck!

i transferred a tone from my v551 to my lg cu400 and tried applying it as a ringtone and it says that the file is too large to be used as a rington (700kb). Is there any way to get around this. I had this tone set as my ringtone on my v551. What gives????

I suggest using a 3rd party program to shorten the mp3 to a few seconds... I find that no more that 10-12 seconds of any song is ever played as a ring tone.

As far as exactly why the cu400 would not play it while your other phone would, i can not answer. But I suggest you do whatever your phone says, and if that's to shorten the file to get it to play... I would

For my LG CU400, to import my own ringtones, do I simply use the blue tooth cord? I'm trying to get my own custom sounds.
