Possible for w810 to be updated to a TV remote?

Ok, so I know there are many great programmers and just.. smart people in general out there. I was wondering, since the w810 already has infared, if it's possible to do a little bit of work and use it as a remote for TVs? There's been strides to increase the volume, and the camera, and even the possibility of one day have A2DP on our phones, so I wasn't sure if there is, even a minute possibility of having a program and driver released that would allow it to be a remote.

After all, why else would you want to bother using infared..?

i think the infrared port isn't as powerfull as regular remotes (range) and thats why there are no java apps for this.
unless you have a symbian phone, a google search will help you.

No, the infared only has a range of < 2 feet, so your close enough to change by hand.

hmm, thanks, but I've seen some pretty outrageous mods done to phones with jsut a few codes. I know symbian phones work perfectly, but wasn't sure if there was any way to enhance the range and compatibility as many other programs have been upgraded.
