Why does my 6700 keep turning on it's display

I have had my ppc6700 for about 2 weeks now and for some strange reason, it just turns on its display on @ random times , sometimes when its just sitting and charging @ home and sometimes when i am just driving and its sitting on my console...any ideas???? Thanks Al

Yeah mine too... a lot of the times when it turns it self on I get a text message a few seconds after.. but alot of the time I don't... I would like to know this also

same here. i have mine sitting on my car seat and it just pops on for no reason. and sometimes ill take it out my case and its on. also i learnd that if you have a pouch case the magnet that folds over your phone can trigger it to come out of suspended mode and dialing numbers on its own. yea i have that problem to guys

Sometimes Sprint sends updates to your phone or your email automatically gets checked or your clock is syncing. All of these will cause the screen to come on. It comes on whenever information is exchanged.

Yeah..mine too. I have found myself connected to my last call without even knowing it. Can be dangerous depending on what you are saying.

I go through the same thing on a 700p. I'll be driving along and all of a sudden, the display is lit.

I'm not convinced that it's Sprint in the background doing stuff, and I dont have my email set to check automatically.

The other issue I have is the ringer switch will be in the mute position all on its own.

The backlight comming on can be due to many things, but first is to make sure in Settings->Buttons->Lock that it is set to only turn on with the power button. Another thing to do is to enable the device lock on your phone. If it is charging, then activesync may turn it on to do its thing. In which case I'd suggest going iinto the task manager and stopping the activesync process. Other than that, I don't know as I don't have this problem.

If you leave ActiveSync open and its not syncing/charging, it will randomly power the screen back on.

It took me over an hour to figure out why my screen kept coming on literally once every 5 minutes. I closed out ActiveSync and I don't have the problem anymore.
