Whoa be it if there is. You will be cast into the bowels of hell. Trust me.

Besides here, try looking for information in the Pocket PC forum. This is a long thread but contains some good information. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1025842

Try this...

http://palm750tips.com/

It's pretty new, but you may find some interesting stuff...

Posted by: maevro

Isn't this a WM5 phone? The tips from the 8525/Blackjack/8125, etc. will work with this phone too.

Posted by: Ludwig

Okay I have read the manual but cant find it. How do you turn the power off completely on the 750, holding the red end key down only turns off the phone......

Posted by: john1027

There is no true on/off key as there is on many devices. The only way to completely shut it off is to take out the battery.

Tip:

Holding down the "ok" button for about 1 second opens up the Memory window which enables you to close programs that are currently running.

...sorry for the weak tip but it's just to get things going here.

option-OK does the same thing, although holding OK is much more convenient.
Also Option-Send, Option-Menu, and Option-End all have functions. You can see and edit these under menu>settings>buttons.

Love the 750 but don't love the cumbersome multi-step process to launch programs or websites. Used the Blackjack for a while and that had an awesome program launcher based on the thumbwheel. Anyone know of a D-pad and soft-button based launcher that works well with the 750?

Thanks. I sure wasn't aware of it....

There are a number of launchers that work well in WM5 to include the 750. SPB's Pocket Plus and SBSH's iLauncher are two that come to mind. I use PP and have for some time, but that is just a personal preference. If you opt for that one, download the new beta version that can be found on their forums section. There was a little volume switch bug with the Treo 750 that is fixed in the beta version. If you want to use the menu, you could consider a product like SmallMenu which gives you the ability to customize the start menu drop down lists that you get when you hit the windows button.

Posted by: jhsidoc

Aren't PocketPlus and iLauncher more of a stylus based launcher? I am looking for a button based launcher.

Posted by: RF9

SPB Pocket plus took over my volume control so that it showed the battery status instead of the volume. Even after uninsalling it I couldn't get the fucntionaly of volume back until I did a hard-reset.
I think the're going to fix this.

Posted by: digitalslurp

The newest beta of Pocket Plus fixes this bug. You can get the beta from spbclub.com.

Oh, so that's what it was! And I was blaming AE Button Plus for this the whole time.

Thanks for the tip! However, I read the enhancements and bug fixes of 3.2 BETA 1 from this thread and, even though it does say "Other minor bug fixes", they do not implicitly mention this issue being fixed.

does anybody know how to tether the 750 to a bluetooth notebook and use the 750 for data? i cant find internet sharing in the windows folder.

Anyone used and have any feedback on Handylauncher, Rightmenu, or smallmenu which seem to be more button-based launchers?

Posted by: john1027

Small menu works well. BTW, back to your orignal point about stylus based...you do have the ability to navigate with the navigation pad to the launcher icons in PP or ilauncher and launch the programs without ever taking out the stylus. I have PP setup with just one row (you can set up to 10 if you use small icons) of my most used programs at the top of my home page and it is very easy and quick to launch those programs one-handed without the stylus.

There's another thread about the bug where a developer specifically says that the newest beta fixes the problem.

Good to know. I'd like to give it a try. I will try and find that other thread or post on the developer's forums in order to find out whether the BETA version will work as a registered version once it detects my application is already registered or I will have to pay again. Thanks.

Posted by: ericrwalker

I don't think you're going to have to pay for a beta version, and it will probably be better than your current version....If it works.

anyone have a tip/hack for the keyboard back light to make it stay on perm. thanks!

Posted by: danbee46

Have any of you tried Ulti-Planner 3.02 for your Treo? It looks great and is much cheaper than programs like Agendus.

Posted by: conekkted

Can someone that has the Cingular 750 tell me what buttons show up as editable when they go to Settings>Buttons?

Posted by: ericrwalker

You want your keyboard backlight to say on all day? You'll kill the battery before lunch.

Anyone used both Vito ButtonMapper and AE Button Plus and could evaluate these for me? Also, is there a manual anywhere on how to use the AE Button Plus. Don't see one on the website and it's not obvious how to progam one button to perform several different tasks with different types of push (1,2,3 or long). Thanks

I am using AE Button Plus and I think it's great, especially for the hard-to-beat price ($0). You don't think it's obvious how to program the buttons? You tap and hold the button you want to program on the list of available buttons and you will get to a screen where you drop down a box where you first choose the trigger (tap, double-tap, tripple-tap or long tap) and then you choose the action to take. Then save, exit and do a soft reset if asked. I think it's pretty simple.

As someone in another thread posted. Use this program to extend the life of your battery. http://www.gb-soft.cz/XDAII/product...ak_wm5pe_en.htm It will shut down your internet connection after a predetermined amount of time so as to not have it keep running and run down the battery. I have had it installed for a few hours now and have already noticed a difference. I think that this is a MUST HAVE program for the 750. You can read more about it in the treo battery life thread or on Treocentral. Sorry Im to lazy to post the links

Unless you're doing push (Exchange or IMAP IDLE). Then, this is of no use, unfortunately.

But what if you want to have a button open one program on press, another if double pressed, nothing if triple pressed and soft reset if held for a long tap? How do you create these multiple options?

1) Open AE Button Plus.
2) Tap and hold the key or key combination you want to configure for a second.
3) Change the first drop-down to "3. Handle by AEBPlus".

4) Select "1. Single press" in the second drop-down (selected by default).
4a) Select "2. Run application" in the third drop-down.
4b) Select the application in the fourth drop-down or tap the ellipsis (...) to select your application if not in the list.
--> Do not press OK yet.

5) Select "2. Double press" in the second drop-down.
5a-5b) Repeat 4a-4b.
--> Do not press OK yet.

6) Select "3. Tripple press" in the second drop-down.
6a) Select "1. None" in the third drop-down (selected by default).
--> Do not press OK yet.

7) Select "3. Long press" in the second drop-down.
7a) Select "36. Soft-Reset your device" in the third drop-down.

8) Press OK.
9) Select File|Save and Exit from the application Menu (left soft key).
10) Press OK to do a soft reset if asked.

Can you get IMAP IDLE push on WM5? If so how or what program does this?
I noticed the iPhone is going to include IMAP IDLE push mail support with Yahoo. I'm looking forward to Yahoo supporting IMAP as they don't, yet.

Thanks so much Razor for your explanation. BTW, if you map the left or right soft button to an application, will it always trigger that application? Currently the default buttons for email and menu change to context menus depending on the application open. Can the soft buttons be set to start an application if you are on the start page but do context for the other applications?

Posted by: hondatwo

To launch the web very quickly, Go to settings and then to buttons and change the "ok" button to internet explorer. This will launch the explorer very quickly. Then just go to favorites and highlight the web site and press the center button and you are there. Not such a hassle.

Not Pocket Outlook, but I use FlexMail, which does support IDLE.

With AE Button Plus, I doubt it, but give it a try.

Any battery saving tips other than the standard screen brightness and frequency of email checking?

Is there an alert that repeats itself for missed calls or voicemails? When I go to the sound and notifications menu, the Repeat field is grayed out. Is this done on purpose? IS there a way around this?

I believe Phonealarm does just that. I have not tried it on the Treo 750. But I know it's the most popular app of it's type.
I'm typing on my Treo and don't remember who makes it. But google phonealarm Pocket PC and you should find it.
