Sharp 903 RIP???

Hey guys just wondering if any had any idea what was going on with my 903

If the phone dies or is turned off it just won't turn back on!!

its a problem that has gotten steadily worse, first it wouldn't turn on for a few hours, then a few days, now i'm begining to wonder if its the end of this fleeting but wonderful relationship!

its not a problem with the battery as i put it in my friends 903 and its fine, the chargers fine too.

The only thing that used to bring it back to life before was reattaching the charger loadsa times until the LED came back on then it would start. but if i plugged it out of the charger and then tried to start it.......you guessed it!

Havn't tried anything yet, and i havn't a clue what flashing means i'm afraid but anythings worth a try!

Thanks for your time.

if i send it to you how quick do you think you would be able to get back to me? and how much?? and where etc....

what firmware do you have on it right now..

flashing it is the last resort but i can tell you it's a 50/50 shot... if the problem is getting worst and worst... it could be a damaged board... flashing will fix the problem for a week or so and eventually it's dead again

Did you drop your phone or anything to induce this?

Posted by: Rambo999

Hey,

i fairly sure its euro firm ware. and ya sure its been dropped but haven't we all! don't think thats it.

It started again after it was left in the car for the weekend. (came straight on when plugged into charger...). Was working perfectly, charging as normal as usual, but i said i'd try a master reset, for the laugh......
That of course turned off the phone.......and of course it wouldn't start....or charge.

So i had the brainwave of putting the phone in the Freezer for a while!! (it had been pretty cold over the weekend so what the hell....maybe).

When i took it out it was seriously cold and of course wouldn't work. but after ~5 mins when it wasn't as freezing i plugged in the charger one last time and (there is a god) the little red light came on!!!. That was too days ago and its been working fine since. (obviously i haven't turned it off yet!).

Maybe i've stumbled across some universal solution to all the 903's problems........or maybe its just dumb luck

yours in hope ........

Donal

Very interesting let us know the outcome on that would like to know what other people think of this

take it to a store and have it checked out?

rambo,

first of all, what month of phone is it? (under the battery, it will say what month and year it was built in). This isn't terribly important, although, 2006 versions for the most part you will have more trouble finding someone to do it for you or at least it will cost more as the phone has to be disassembled.

Secondly, shipping to Canada won't be too bad. In my experience, phones coming from the UK usually take about a week each way.

I don't know what I can tell you man. It's unfortunate you are having this issue. I have seen issues like this with models that were originally unlocked with the testmode unlock but that was a LONG time ago.

Good luck.

honestly man, u when u put ur phone in ur freezer and charged it after u might have shorted out something. because when u put it in the freezer frost will build up inside ur phone, even if there was no water already in there, and when that frost melts after u take it out, it turns to water and MIGHT have shorted out the circuts, then u pluged it in the charger it could've mean u owned it lol

It could be due to moisture dmg. I would prob flash the firmware. If that doesn't fix the problem then it's most likely a hardware problem.

i used to have this problem as well. my phone shut off/froze periodically, with the screen showing alot of messed up lines and stuff.. when taking the battery out and back in - sometimes the phone wouldn't even turn on. resolved this with sticking the charger in and waiting a bit.

now, the problem is gone.

i fixed it using the old method of.. smashing it against the table really hard (but on a padded surface to prevent from scratches) - as i was pretty ticked off when it shutdown on an important conversation.

strangely, that knock fixed the phone - it doesn't shut off anymore.

maybe something loose inside?

Now THAT's a REAL SOLUTION! You can fix anything with that method Personal experience
