Help! I haven't looked for a new phone in several years. Finding this forum has opened up a world I didn't even know existed.
I'm looking for an unlocked GSM phone to use with T-Mobile ToGo. It needs to be quad band so I can use it overseas once in a while. I like clamshells b/c you don't have to mess with the keyguard when you store them in your pocket. Don't take many pictures. Don't text a lot. Don't need MP3. I like having an external display for caller ID. If I could sync MS Outlook contacts to the phone that would be great. Ideas?
I like the RAZR but I'm not sure about its sound quality and battery life. It also looks very delicate. delicate=not good.
OTOH I was also looking at a TREO 650. I'm just not sure if I would use all of the features. Also, I'm not sure I want to be running around with that thing in my jeans!

Oh No! Not the Treo! One of the worst phones I ever had - almost as bad as the three Treo 600s it replaced.

Have you found a suitable phone yet? I'm curious, as I'm looking for something similar for T-mobile to go.

Nokia 6133, Samsung T619 or T609

I ended up buying the RAZR w/ T-moble software unlocked for cheap off E-bay. I plan do to some Intl. travel so I wanted the quad band. I like how the phone fits and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

A lot of people are moving away from the RAZR, but only because new things are out. I went through about 5 of them since they came out, so it's easily the phone I've had for the longest tenure. The build quality is great- You can drop it, throw it, step on it, and it probably won't break. It'll still do most of the things a $300 phone will, just not to the same extent.
