Ok.. Part of the reason, I got a smartphone is to recieve email. My first thought is that people can send email to my#@tmobile.net and that would go straight to my phone... Well that doesn't seem to work

Next I tried having a text alert sent to from my yahoo acct to my phone when an email comes in, but that doesn't seem to work

so my question is how can I use a free email service to get emails and be notified in 'real time' (not every 15 mins) that a message has come in?

Search for "push email" and you will get tons of info.
mail2web offers free push mail, msn live works just like push and is free but you have to find the live mobile/messenger beta app. (not too hard with google).
yahoo go i believe works like push but i haven't tried it yet.
you can also go to your tmobile email acct. and configure your email there. enable the triggers so your email downloads as it is recieved. this is not push as you still have to send outgoing mail manually.

thanks, chris

Depending on the data plan you have, you should be able to receive mail directly to the phone by using yournumber@tmomail.net. I send mail to phone all the time using the tmomail.net address and it works fine... You may want to contact tmobile and make sure your plan accomodates this.

The tmomail.net does work. I figured it out yesterday.. Appartently I was using the wrong address..
Also, I set up gmail alerts, so I seem to get mail about 3 mins after it arrives.
