Questions for Dash/S620

Hey guys, I'm a long time viewer of the website but I hardly post. Anyways, I recently got the Tmobile Dash and am loving it. I also took the time to read through many threads as well as the 19 page sticky. I do still have a few questions and was hoping there would be someone willing to take the time to try and help me out as best they can.

I'll start off by listing the things I feel are wrong with the smartphone:

-AIM (Powered by OZ) does not update correctly as far as away status etc. goes.
-I figured maybe someone had another app that worked better. Not too big a deal, but it's something that bothers me.

-Having to use task manager to close each and every program grows tiresome, but in some cases (like shrinking AIM, IE, or media player) required.
-My idea was to remap a key (like the TZones key) to be a sort of Alt+F4 key for the app. That way you can close programs you want to close and shrink the ones you don't.

-The JOGGR strip seems like something HTC only added to have more "technology" on the phone. Seems very untested and worthless.
-To make up for it since there is no other way to control the volume I thought maybe you could remap certain keys (like O and L) to be used as volume keys while on the Home Screen.

-Another problem I have noticed is that the phone does not have a "High&Vibe" option. So I was wondering what the deal with that is.

-Also I have noticed that when trying to replace the background to the Home Screen it pans the picture up a little and leaves a white bar at the bottom. Maybe someone could explain that to me.

-I was wondering if the phone supports 2G Micro SD cards. I'm planning on getting the A-DATA 2GB Micro SD card soon.

To anyone who has kindly read through this post I humbly ask for any help that you can offer. Including pointing me in the direction of good places to read to get more information about the phone.

It should take just about any 2GB micro. I believe I saw one that didn't work, but it was probably a brand to stay away from anyways. And yes, the whole white strip on the home screen is pretty queer. The touch strip seems to have been fixed, or at least changed, on the S630.

edit: someone posted about an Oxios task program for one-button program killing, but I have no experience with it.

Thanks for the help on the memory card. I can go ahead and but it now.

As far as the "Alt+F4" feature I was able to try out a program originally made for the Motorola Q called "QTask: Application manager", and the idea was pretty nice. It had it set so that you could double tap X (changeable) to close the current open app. Unfortunately the trial or free download that I used did not seem to work (app worked key shortcuts did not).

Also the AIM seems to keep getting worse and worse :P I now found out that I cannot view what away messages people have without actually sending a message. This goes for profile viewing as well.

For the volume control I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the direction of learning more about registry changes. That way I can find out where in the registry keys are mapped so that I can try to figure out how to change them.

The not having a ring and vibrate (High&Vibe) feature also is posing as a problem since sometimes I have music playing and cannot hear my ring tone or I'm moving around and cannot feel the vibrate.

Again, thanks to anyone willing to take a look and my hats off to those who try to help.

cheers

I don't think the volume keys are mappable. If they are, nobody has posted a solution since the dash was released

Go to the HTC site and find the wiki faq for a good write up on dash tweaks.

Thanks a lot. I will be sure to do that first thing in the morning.

I would really love to hear more about the AIM application though. Not updating away status and not being able to see profiles is driving me through a wall. (OCD :P)

Sure they are...Should be located in the FAQ, not sure which one though (here, wiki, etc.)
