Has anyone tried this ebayer for the OEM housing case?
http://cgi.ebay.com/original-OEM-no...1QQcmdZViewItem

The guy definitely has the remarks for it to make him legit. This weekend I went to Bloomingdales in the bay area and saw a 8801 that had the black casing on it, so this case does exist and not only the 8800 has it.

Any info more about this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well China_store can be trusted i buy from him all the time and he always has great deals on OEM parts.. I would just email him and ask him about it because i honestly havent really looked for a black casing for my 8801 so i couldnt tell you if it is ligent but ask the seller he is really good communicating

I've done it before.. just watch the video 2-3 times before taking your 8801 apart. I've done the 8801> 8800 conversion.

I don't want to convert, i need the 850. Anyone try this out yet. I may have to take one for the team... can allways have a pay pal dispute too...

Buy me the parts and i will try it and post if it works

the swap is easy... it can be done once you watch the video for the disassembly..

Hello,
I'm new to this forum. Am lookingto swap out the stock case for my 8801. I was wondering if you mates could send the link for the dismantling video. Can't seem to find any instructions out there.
Cheers,
Ron

its not the same as the 8800, you notice the hard lines around the thumb indentation, the 8800 has just a depression, almost like a thumb print, so it wont look as sleek in form. the 8800 has no corners or hard edges, everything is rounded and polished thats the difference between this cover and the actual 8800

i know it's just a darkened 8800 but it's still very nice.. i'm interested but concerned of how shoddy the finish is.. i've had nothing but bad luck with after market housings and faceplates.. i'm pretty sure the paint would scratch off..

Here's the video:

would it be possible to to convert a 8801 to a 8800 by changing the 8801 antenna out to the 8800 antenna?

Posted by: patsc23

so has anyone bit the bullet on this?

Im about to buy it and i hav inquiries into the seller - just curious why they advertise genuine parts if it doesnt come from Nokia (to my knowledge there is no black 8801 correct?)
