hi guys, my 903 was working for for more than a year, and yesterday I got no reception. there's 1 bar on it but can't make or receive calls.
Do anyone of you know what's going on with my phone?
I am using test mode, and the phone was made 2005 sept.

PLEASE HELP!!!

maybe... a nuclear explosion hit u're area.. and it knocked down all the towers. =P
Too much 24... lol
Turn off then on your phone.. and try using it in a different area.

did you check first with your provider?, maybe theres some network issues

Posted by: 97 318is

I checked... my sim card is working fine with another phone.

who is your provider, if it is cingular in the u.s.a they probably phased out the 1900mhz towers in your area. it happened to me and i was stuck for like 2 days without service except when i put my sim into one of the awful domestic phones that i hate to use.

check with your service provider, if it's cingular, there's a good chance that they've made some changes. t-mobile may be doing the same thing.

They have done yes, with the old AT&T towers when there are some fairly near each other there was no need to have two... Rogers did this with the Fido towers too afaik....

I am in Canada using FIDO
and it is getting worst... i try to shut it down and turn it back on, now it will keep restarting itself......

sounds like a brief network issue; or an issue with the testmode unlock.

also, you should consider having your phone flashed. testmode unlock is potentially dangerous for the phone. its about the same kind of risk with a computer that you turn off by pulling out the plug EVERYDAY instead of shutting it down.

I am in ottawa Canada... who can do it for me?

i guess they will keep some of the 1900mhz towers in the tourist areas

Posted by: evilgabbie

yes it could be a flash

have you dropped it, the antennas are quite sensitive on these phones

Posted by: 97 318is

but i am in Ottawa... don't know where to go to flash and unlock...

Posted by: koh-kun

I really don't know if it's the place, but you know those booths that sell cellphone covers and stuff in Rideau/St.Laurent/Orleans/etc.? They have signs saying that they will unlock gsm phones. Otherwise, you should do like me and send it to somewhere in Montreal or Toronto. Good luck Ottawa comrade^^

yea in my area, cingular claims they are using 850mhz. i am pulling off of towers that are 50 to 100 miles away. i literally had to guide the customer service people to get my phone working again after i just lost signal. i had to tell them to direct my phone to work with the any 1900mhz towers or allow me to more easily roam off of t-mobile's network. my signal is strong when present but can be shotty, and i get a lot of dropped calls because i am using towers that are so far away from me. i have called them asked them the location of the towers that i am using. i think it is rdiculous what they are doing, and the bad part is the customer reps don't know a thing about how to help except tell you to get a domestic phone.

Posted by: ace587

yea, cingular shudnt be doing that, but in Florida, its required to have 1900mhz for the inbound roamers since we get lots of tourists

Gabbie's in ON, PM him about flashing.

Your other option is having your phone serviced by Softbank. It's about $130 and takes about 3 weeks, but your phone will be brand new again. Only downside is you will have to deal with reprovisioning if you want Japanese firmware.

Posted by: 97 318is

where is softbank?

Posted by: Ultraman666

Japan of course

Posted by: 97 318is

So If I send it back to Softbank, it will only cost me 130CAD or US?
And they will have it all fixed?

I got a question to ask, might a little off topic under this thread, not sure...

I found a UK selling selling his UK version 903, f/w wise, does it work the same as the Jap f/w?

Any help would be appreciated.

Z~

Posted by: ace587

no, euro is much less restrictive

Posted by: Ng-83

So, if I get one of those UK version one, I can still put the Jap f/w on?

Thanks again

yeah. all 903 are cross-flashable (all take the same size of firmware flash so euro to jp, jp to euro, or anything will work)

Thanks for bunch!!!!

Z~
