P910 - Trouble replacing touch screen / ribbon cable trouble

So I cracked the touch screen on my P910 a while back. I found a replacement on ebay for $30. Note, I did not break the LCD, just the touch screen.
I disassembled the phone, and scraped the broken touch screen off the LCD, and peeled away the ribbon cable of the touch screen from the ribbon cable of the LCD. I've adhered the new touch screen to the LCD successfully. Now the difficulty is getting the ribbon cables attached and working. There's a smallish ribbon cable that supplies power to the LCD ... I got this taped up and working. The other part of the ribbon cable that's giving me difficulty is the part that picks up the touch signals from the touch screen... If I tightly hold this ribbon cable connector to it's mate I can successfully use the touch screen. However, if I just tape the two together and fold them behind the screen (as it was when it was disassembled) then the connection isn't solid enough to pick up the touch screen signals.
Is there an adhesive that I can put in between the ribbon cable connectors that will tightly hold the two connectors together without degrading the connection (i.e. one that conducts electricity)?

Hi, Greg,
I hope you successfully finished your repair.
I appreciate that this was a long time ago and you probably have a new phone by now. My screen was so scratched up that I bought a new one at eBay. When it got here (the UK) from Hong Kong it was just the touch screen part. Am I right in assuming this is all you got? If so I'd appreciate some advice.
The touch-screen appears to be bonded to the metal back-plate. It is a very firm bond and I am nervous about removing it.
q1 Did you have to get this off yourself and if so how?
q2 How do you bond the replacement on?
If you could let me know I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for your time and help.

I carefully separated the touch screen from the lcd with a sharp plastic scraper. It's only glued around the edges. As you seperate it, it will crack and break the old touch screen. Be careful that the shards of glass don't scratch your LCD or cut your hand.
Rebonding the touch screen to the LCD was accomplished with judicious use of transparent tape. Be careful that the tape only touches the non-visible sides of your touch screen. Also, make certain that your lcd and touch screen are exactly lined up with each other.
Sadly, this is where my story ends. The ribbon cables that connect the touch screen and the LCD have to match up perfectly. Unfortunately, when I bought my touch screen off ebay, they indicated it works for a P910a, however it does not. The ribbon cables don't match up when it's folded away with the cover on. I wound up sending my phone to a repair service and we're now waiting on the correct touch screen.
