BB Pearl...Real time IMs?

I'm a Tmobile MDA user right now and found that the IM client on there is not real time. Is that the case with BB Pearl or do you get messages as soon as someone sends them to you? I know with MDA I had to wait for it to connect every so often for it to retrieve my new messages.

I guess it really depends on the software you're running.

I use RIM's yahoo messenger and blackberry messenger, and they're both real time. They even tell you when someone is typing a response.

Though BBM is useful only for IM among Blackberry devices. I still use it a lot -- especially when the wife is travelling intenationally.

is there a way to transfer all you msn contacts into your a yahoo messenger?
and where would u get yahoo messenger, as my pearl in the uk only has bbm.

I know that if you install yahoo messenger on your computer (the newest version), you can add MSN (windows live messenger) contacts to your list. When you sign in to Yahoo on your BB, I would assume the MSN contacts will be there.

You can get the RIM yahoo client by pointing your BB browser to www.blackberry.com/YahooDownload/

i use google talk w/ the multi connect function trick to connect w/ aim
and that's even real time, ditto on seeing when they type too.
