I currently have a 8525 with a 3g sim card, but i will be getting a phone from work with a non-3g sim card in it.

Will i be able to use the non-3g sim in my 8525, so i can use the 8525 during the day while at work (with the work phone number on the normal sim)

I work for Cingular and have never run across any phones that aren't backwards compatible with older sim cards. I have an 8525 and when I first got it I still had my old sim. Everything as far as your voice calls won't be affected and will work just fine. The only thing that won't work is if you want to use your data connection, it won't pick up the 3G network, only EDGE.

I just got the 8525. With my Cingular Sync I am able to get Edge, but the 8525 is only getting GPRS. Do you know if there is a setting I need to adjust on the 8525?

Thanks,

B.

I'd like to know this as well. I'm picking up an 8525 tomorrow from an individual and I'm wondering if my SIM Card will get me a 3G connection or EDGE.

My Cingular 8525 came with the 3g (blue/white) sim. I have used my old original Cingular sim (orange/white) in the 8525 and it works fine, but only with gprs/edge. You need to be sure that the Cingular agent has ticked the box on your service account to authorize gprs/edge for the old sim to get it.

Didn't pick up the 8525 as planned (seller backed out on me) but I did snag a Samsung A707 over the weekend and it works fine with my old SIM card.
