Hello.

I have a question. I recently purchased a 8700r on a data plan with Rogers Wireless. I don't know how to have my Microsoft Outlook mail sync to my blackberry. Can anyone tell me the procedure to get this done?

Thanks!
Just wanted to add, I've done a search and no luck.

Is this a personal BlackBerry? If yes, use BIS, log into your service providers website, and add your POP3 email accounts. If it's a work related one, and your company has MS Exchange, have them add it to the BES - unless I've totally mis-understood the question...

ps: emails you ALREADY have in Outlook, will not 'sync' to your BlackBerry...

If its a personal blackberry: Install desktop manager on your computer that has Outlook on it. Plug blackberry into usb cable and run desktop manager. There are also manuals and a cd of information that came with your blackberry that will give you a more complete step by step process if you need it....

i will look in the manuals

First off, the BlackBerry doesn't sync email, re-direct (requires M$ Exchange or BES) and push email (BES or BIS) are methods of receiving mail on the BlackBerry. Second, to sync calendar, address, notes and tasks install the Desktop Manager, choose your PIM of choice and sync.

ok well i'm currently installing desktop manager now. Do I choose BES or re-director?

RTM might be a good start.

ok i chose BES. I read the manual. I now see the "redirector" settings. I clicked it. all the information appears to be good. There is a check mark in the box where it says "Override Address"

IF you don't know the difference between BES/Re-director and BIS then you need to stop the install and read up on what those are.

If you aren't activating the bb on a corporate BES server (through your work for instance) or aren't going to want email to be redirected from your computer to your bb (computer must always be on, etc, etc), then you do not want to choose BES when installing Desktop Manager.

If you plan to use your bb with your personal pop3 email accounts (gmail, yahoo, etc), then you want to choose BIS when installing Desktop Manager.

Now, as stated before, it really sounds like you need to do some reading before you go any further.... Read the FAQ's and stickies here and at other bb related forums so you have an idea of what people are talking about when you ask a question and get responses....

OK. all sorted. ok truth is... i do have a blackberry and i have it setup with re-direct via pop3 at home. This configuration was for my boss. i figured by sounding noobish, someone could walk me through the corporate setup with bb enterprise setup.

The enterprise setup was for the director of the company i work for. so... i decided to call rogers.. and apparently they needed to speak with our IT administrator which I did not know due to the e-mail server setup. So now I got the rogers rep and our IT to touch base. Now the director's setup and i'm home free.

Now I got his good graces and i'm done.

For those who helped. Much thanks to you guys

Happy Birthday to me!
