k i downloaded the firmware on tmobile website. installed it and plugged in my phone. no reaction, doesnt' prompt to ugprade or anything. just blank... but my phone does connect to the software and says "connected" any ideas why it doesnt' work?

Is it possible that you're already running the latest software?

did you delete the vendor.xml file from your pc first?

Posted by: NJBlackBerry

Here are the steps that must be taken:

- Shut down Desktop Manager
- download the Handheld OS
- Execute (install) the program you just downloaded to a PC
- Locate and delete VENDOR.XML from your PC C: drive
- Connect the BB and restart Desktop Manager

To add to NJBlackberry's post: The vendor.xml file is located in the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.

Also if you are using a T-mobile device and update with T-mobile OS, you shouldn't have to go through this process. This is only for installing an OS from a different carrier.

I have the same problem. Doesn't prompt me to update. I am using the Rogers OS on the Rogers Pearl. I'll try to uninstall DM and reinstall everything after work.

Before you do that - did you delete VENDOR.XML????

Are you 100% positive that you loaded the OS for the correct model BB? ANd that you executed the download after you downloaded it?

You could also delete or "format" your bb and load the os from scratch..
javaloader -usb wipe
delete the vendor.xml file
connect you bb to the pc
restart desktop manager
double click app loader
voila!

okay I deleted my vendor.xml from the AppLoader directory, and now its updating.
