Much confusion about WiFi on my MDA

Is there a good guide regarding WiFi on the MDA? I have so many questions. If I'm in a new area and I turn on WiFi, it shows what's available and lets me pick one. It tells whether or not it is WEP, but not signal strength. So if I pick an open one, it works fine. But lets say I want to change to a different one. Well now if I turn off WiFi and turn it back on, it always goes back to the same one. How can I tell it to search again and show me what's available and let me pick a different one? Also, I made the mistake of picking "Free Public WiFi" at an airport (which I guess was an ad-hoc network), and now it keeps picking that one all of the time. At home, I have a network that doesn't transmit its SSID, and I was able to connect to it a while back, but I've done a ROM upgrade since then (with the new Communications Manager) and now I can't seem to figure out how to enter the SSID, WEP password, etc. Those fields are always locked down.
