Chocolate+USB+Bitpim+Mac?

Hey everybody, i recently bought a usb cable for my chocolate phone and am having a difficult time syncing it with my mac. 
Usually once u plug anything into the usb port my mac detects it automatically, but with my chocolate it doesn't. Also, when trying to detect it with bitpim it can't..i've been searching high and low for answers, but i haven't found any.

Let me know if you find a way to get working with the cable.
