How do I edit phone policies without a data plan?

In order to to sync my blackberry to the desktop manager using bluetooth only, i need to disable the following policies

Disable Desktop Connectivity
Disable Wireless Bypass

..but i dont have a data plan and dont have a BES or anything like that

Go to http://blackberry.ig3.net/

This will give you the steps to remove the IT policy from your Berry.

I take it you bought the Berry used as you state your not on a BES yet you have a policy on your Berry.

Note that if you do remove the policy then connect to a BES the policy will then be pushed back down to the device.

Thanks for that.
I think I understand all of the instructions on that link.

1. My pearl is just as how it came from the company
2. It has never been connected to a BES
3. It has never had a data plan

Is it okay for me to do these steps?

And how do I edit the policies or see what is enabled and disabled?

As it came from the company - is that your work? If company refers to where you bought it then you got a used device as it has an IT policy.

I have used the instructions on that link to remove my companies IT policies before I sold my Pearl. It works well. You can not edit the policies to the best of my knowledge - it just wipes off all policies.

i got it from rogers authorized dealer
does it coem with any policies from rogers?

It shouldn't if it's new.

Uhhh - no.

That is just too bizarre. I'm betting you have a refurb.

These are traditionally 2 services that are disabled for security reasons when a handheld is connected to a BES (most companies don't want data transmitted across Bluetooth as it's not secure so they disable these 2 features via an IT policy).

I don't know if Rogers disables this "out of the box" but I would guess no.

I would take it back to Rogers.

Im trying to synchronize the pearl with desktop manager using bluetooth only, the desktop manager won't find my pearl even though the bluetooth drivers are working and the phone and computer are paired.

the solution to the problem is on the 2nd last post on this page: http://www.blackberryforums.com/blu...desktop+manager

ok i messed around with my phone and I found that those services do infact show up.

could there be any other reason that my pearl won't show up in the desktop manager?
