Hey,
Ok so i have motorola krzr k1m from telus, and i have been reading alot of these forum about ringtones and how to make them ect. i have made a ringtones that i would like to use, if posible i would like to replace it with a default ringtone that comes with the phone. on top of this i would like to get rid of most of the default ringtones. Now i have been reading a bit on this subject according to motorola i should be able to make ringtones with MPT and transfer them to my phone. needless to say it doesnt work. i made the ringtone to a small size about 113 kb and played it on my comp bla bla. and it plays on my comp things were looking good. now to MPT i hit the melody studio and picked the ringtone and transfered it to my phone and everything went ok but when i goto assing the ringtone to loud its not there but instead it transfers to my mp3 player song list?? any insite on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks

As for your desire to get rid of most of the built in ring tones... You'll have to use a tool that can access the phone file system directly, like Bitpim or P2KCommander.
And once you delete them, you'll have to also delete the MyToneDB.DB from the ROOT of the phone's file system, and restart the phone... However... the MyToneDB.DB is the "master index" to the ring tones, deleting and recreating this file causes all ring tones to be re-indexed.. as such, your custom selections of tones for Ring Styles or Caller ID WILL change.
But if you're interested in freeing up space... it won't help much... I haven't seen the factory ring tones take up more than 1meg yet... most of the time its 700kbytes range...
As for the in-ablitiy to add those custom sounds as ring tones... I can't say for sure...

The Motorola KRZR k1m apparently blocks the usage of any audio files you copy and/or email to your phone. Only the included ringtones or ones downloaded from VZW can be used. (This is so that people are forced to pay for ringtones through VZW). Most likely a mod could be made to allow your own ringtones, but I am not currently aware of one.

I have my own ringtones on my k1m w/ Verizon. Just used P2KCmdr, works like a charm. Mp3 ringtones that is.

make sure your mp3 ringtones are between 64kbps and 192kbps, stereo or mono is fine, set at constant bit rate not variable bit rate. Take out the bass as most cell phone speakers blow out if there's too much bass, boost the mids and slightly the highs..
