Mobile IM

I wasn't really sure if this belonged in the "Get it Now" section or not...but I figured it would be better if it was posted here.

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting Mobile IM, particularly for MSN Messenger...

What I want to know is, is there any hidden charges or fees? Also, is there any disadvantages?

and this will deduct away from my 50 free messages each month, correct? (I'm grandfathered into the $5 unlimited "IN" text messaging, thankfully).

Also, will Mobile IM be up whenever my cell-phone is on, or can I turn it on/off?

NO hiddden fees. Every message sent = 1 txt message. Every message received = 1 txt message. See where I'm going?

Slippy says, "You might want to get a better text messaging package." Falco nods in agreement.

OK, thanks, guys.

I would get a better text-messaging package, but the bulk of my messaging is done to only a couple of people...plus, if I upgrade, then I'll have to go with Verizon's newer (and higher) prices for their text plans.

If you use Mobile IM, it will use your 50 additional messages pretty quickly. Then you will be paying way more in overages than the increase in the price of plans.
