N-Gage won't power on!?!

I just found my QD and I plugged it up for charge however I am missing my backplate..... I didn't think that would stop unit from functioning???? Does the unit need the back plate to function or is my unit broken. When plugged up for charging the unit does not show the charging indicator nore does it power on....What should I do can someone please help me... I couldn't find the unit for like two weeks after a year and a half and now I found it and it won't do anything not even turn on... I hope its only the backplate but seriously doubt it. Again please help, Thanks in advance as well!

could be your battery. Put in a new battery and see if it works.

So I take it that it should power on with no problem at all with out the battery cover? Another question is a sim card required to turn the unit on? I am hoping that its the battery and also hoping I have a spare some where around the house... If you have any other thoughts of what the problem maybe please inform me... I am actually at a meeting for work service school and would love to be able to go home and get this thing working... Thanks in advance.....

well a sim is required in order to be able to acces the features, eles the phone will tell u to insert sim.

Thanks for all the help I did finally get it to work however the screen looks a little funny. The screen looks almost as if it had a spill on it (my sister used it for a while sooo.). I think it was the battery because when I replaced it with an older one it came right on. The buttons dont seem work unless I press them really hard. Between the screen and the button problem it was very disappointing. I went on ebay recently and found a used one which I have purchased to replace it. I also had ordered a new set of buttons and a new face for the older unit. I figure I will attempt to repair it and if succesful most likely sell it on ebay. Thanks for all the help I am now only awaiting the arrival of the new one and my memory card (1 GIG). Anyone know of a list of must have apps and anything that I can stuff it with.... emulators (working ones) movie players, and messengers...... all would be appreciated. I have been searching the forum for an thread that has the format of the 8125 tricks/hacks/ and etc; However all searches have come up empty. If you can help me out feel free to pm me.

1 GIG memory card ? wow. ur batt will dry up fast with this type of memory. im using a 512mb mmc and that i think is the max for qd.. unless u want ur phone to slow down.
but there is application to overclock ur n-gage qd.. i used it.. and it speeds up my hp like wow! anything pm me okay!

nop 1 gb mmc wont slow down the ngage, not mine at least. And 1 gb works with the QD~

nop..well not for my ngages at least~
