ERP + Unlimited BlackBerry

Any of you Cingular employees have a BlackBerry with the discounted unlimited BlackBerry data plan for $22.50, it's the enterprise edition that they offer at a 50% discount, but the thing is I'm able to access email, media net and the internet but not an application such as Ramble IM.. however I CAN access an application such as Google Talk, or Google Maps, which really makes no sense.

I see now that they list the feature as email only no data, but that makes no sense because if i'm able to access media net, the internet browser and even an application such as Google maps, then what would data be considered?

It seems as if for some reason I'm charged under pay per use media net any time I use the application Ramble IM, but no other application.

Anyone have any ideas or any fixes for this situation?

I'm thinking about just switching to the personal data plan for 29.99, and that should remove any issue.. just that its a few dollars more a month and doesn't offer the enterprise access however it really doesn't matter as Cingular doesn't offer enterprise email anyway...

What do you mean by Cingular not offering enterprise email?

as in.. they offer us the enterprise email option which is included within the $22.50 however they don't offer us a way to access and to take advantage of the feature.

You need to have MEdia Net PPU removed from your account. I would call into Tech Support and they will transfer you to Data Support. For some reason in the Blackberry ERP plan "Internet Browsing" isn't enabled by default and they have to enable it. I ran into this on both of my ERP accounts.

Here is a little background info for ya...

I have an 8525 that "use" to support Blackberry Connect. (I dont know why they took it off the phone, but you can still get the vodaphone program). Anyways, I added the 22.50 blackberry package to my ERP. Then when I was checking out my account online, I noticed that I was getting charged for data, unless it was data that was being used for the actual e-mail forwarding. (BIS)

Anyways, to make a long story short, I had to get a 800.00 or so dollar credit from ERP for this issue because they did not specificaly say that the 22.50 package does not include unlimited "Browsing" internet and thats the same time that they put that information in for the Blackberry for ERP 22.50 that it does not include data.

They said "I agree with you that it should include data, however it does not, it only includes blackberry.net e-mail forwarding data".

So yeah, you can browse, because your erp 5mb is still attached. And once that runs out you will get harcored. Me and my manager had to go back and forth with them.

At this point I don't know what to believe.

I've had the BlackBerry data plan for about 4 months now and I haven't been charged for any additional data my monthly usage has varied between 35 to 60mb and that would include email, browsing the internet, using the Media Net browser, and also connecting to programs such as Google Maps.

All I've paid for was $22.50 with no additional charges, at one point I was having an issue accessing any data on my device and a rep added the PPU Media Net soc to the account which I have no idea why, however I was then able to access Ramble IM which I was originally never able to connect to I kept getting the infamous "invalid socket" error.

I had my devices TCP connections setup and then I was able to connect, at the end of the month I saw that I was being charged the Media Net PPU 1/cent per kb anytime I connected to the Ramble IM application but not for anything else.

I called in had the charges removed as well as the PPU soc and then after that I wasn't able to connect anymore... shortly about a month after I had a tech rep in my call center reset my device from the network which once again I was able to connect to Ramble... however I am seeing PPU charges once again on my account.. only time will tell if I'll actually get charged... which would make sense that I would... BUT my friend actually was in a similar situation and was seeing PPU charges on his account but at the end of the cycle he actually didn't get charged for anything..

So we will see...

Do you have a COU or ERP account? Reps are not to touch erp accounts except for tech issues. Reps are not allowed to make ANY adjustment to accounts or add or remove any service from the account. You must go through the erp email for assistance.

Damn those are expensive. Retail over at T-Mobile for the unlimited personal version add-on is only $19.99.

You get what you pay for.

its all about apns
with no media net feature you get no wap.cingular only blackberry.net and is why ramble dont work
when you added the ppu, your account is provisioned wiht wap.cingular, but billing system charges you per kb
if you added the unlimited media net you wouldnt have this problem
but as a previous person stated, would be more reasonable jst to use the blackberry bis only plan for 29.99
want isp.cingular... forget about it 74.99 **** that
really very few needs for isp.cingular anyway

im getting my erp soon, and im pretty sure ill be using a blackberry on it
i do like blackberry email so i think the 29.99 is for me
i could just stick the 9.99 medianet plan on there, but no blackberry email and you would have to deal with the good ol DCR on the top of your screen
but could still access internet via 3rd party browser and other apps if you set your tcp to wap.cingular

and i have to agree about the tmo thing
i used to have a tmo outsourced employee rate plan, very good deal
unlimted wap automatically with the base plan
and an extra 15 per month for blackberry provisioning, which also gives you the equivilent of "internet 2" so it was sufficent provisioning for teathering or using in an aircard
