Member vhs @ www.my-symbian.com is reporting the following
Quote:
Just came back from the Cebit in Germany, where we upgraded 2 P800 with the latest available firmware (available, since the new R2 firmware for phone and organizer are not released to the public yet)
The update did NOT include Opera, and did not do change anything obvious. Bleutooth functionality with my HBH-15 STILL @#$#$ badly
The update takes over 25 minutes (close to 50 minutes) and wipes everything on the phone (ms is left alone)
The people at the stand of SE got the new P800 (mineral grey) only 3-4 days ago with the new formware (R2) which does NOT include UIQ 2.1, also because Symbian has just anounced it, and the guy from UIQ could not tell us if SE is going to use it in future versions.
The new (R2) firmware felt more responsive, and included multiple photo selection for delete, move etc. full screen picture viewer, ability to zoom in-out in detail view and a full screen movie viewer (as stated in other threads)
SE is NOT releasing a video capture program, they let other companies do it.
The new firmware is supposed to be available 4-5 weeks from now via service centers, no downloads
The person I spoke to was on the SE stand showing a few very nice apps, the coolest one a mapping program with 3D possibilities (I think it was called map5 or something) which was put together just for Cebit (the person showing it was actually from handandgo, and had no clue where the software was from, and if we did find it, if we could tell him)
One thing that I heard on the SE stand from various SE people was that they were all not to happy about the current bluetooth implementation, and the attitude towards that from SE management, buy a new headset (HBH-60). their advice: complain to SE to solve it, if they don't hear complaints, they will not solve it.

Just my 2 eurocents from the Cebit experience

I also had my phone updated at the SE booth. They updated to R1D.. not that new I don't think

The mapping program was very cool. I have a download link at home. I will post it when I get home.

Please do post the download link for the mapping program, shovelhEd!!!! Was your phone upgraded with organizer version R1G? If so, does it have the US English language pack calendar bug?

Phone CXC162002 R1D
Bluetooth CXC1259 R2C
Organizer CXC162001 R1G05
CDA CDA162001/2 R2A04

I was asked what language I wanted. I said English. I should have said UK English. If there is a diff.

P.S. what bug?

this bug: http://www.howardforums.com/attachm...stid=835434.gif

Minor calendar glitch; read more about it here

UK English should be in there as well since it is the "default" language. I believe they may have added US English. Check the installed language list in Control Panel.

I have R1G on my "Swede" P800, and yes, the US pack has the calander bug.

picture of firmware update @ cebit.

picture is too small, I can't see anything...

Can you post a bigger picture?

When you guys say that the BT implementation sucks, does that mean software wise, hardware wise, both?! I'm experiencing headset reception problems. Is it possible it's the P800 that has a lousy reception?
