Which would you prefer? What does the v3i have in terms of features that the v3xx lacks and vice versa?

There is really no comparison. They are really two completly different phones, the V3xx looks like the original V3 because they sold 50 million of them. Thats it, apparently they share little parts if any. According to the post below this guy seems quite angry at edgadget for missing this concept, he says he works for Moto, so who knows. I have owned both phones and I agree with him. Read the bottom two posts, that should answer your question. I guess the V3i has itunes, wow. Thats about it.

its look like some drawbacks are that the speakerphone can't be used if the phone is closed and no front-facing camera(please explain what this is)? are there any more drawbacks? I would just like to get an idea of what is missing from the normal razr that we would normally expect, like what I stated above.

I have both and I can agree with iamthedudeman.

True, I dont like the fact that I cant use the speakerphone on the V3xx while the phone is close and thats about the only thing that I dont like about it.

BTW neither the V3i nor the Cingular V3xx have a front facing camera.

I have both and the one thing that I do not like about the v3xx is the user interface. Moto has changed it and made it much less customizable. For example, on the v3xx you can't change the softkeys nor can you assign shortcuts.

The phone is also longer and heavier.

That said, in a 3G area, the phone has some terriific multimedia applications.

apparently the cingular branded version of the krzr is the same way but not the unlocked one. which leads me to believe that the softkey restrictions were cingular's doing, not motorola's.

argh, would it be possible to delete itunes from the v3i? which has a better mp3 player?

also what do you mean by a front-facing camera?

Posted by: ihparker12

In the European version, the phone has 2 cameras: a 2 MP camera on the back and a vga camera that faces you when you have the phone open (front camera).

If you look at the v3xx, you can see a flat plate on the top of keyboard beneath the screen; that is where the front facing camera is.

thanks for clearing that up

does the network matter at all if you're just using the phone to make calls?

Not assigning shortcuts is a philosophy change. I'm afraid that unless they change their minds about it, we're not going to see that on future Motos.

In fact, you cannot assign shortcuts on any version of any software provided w/the premium Krzr K1 models.

Reassigning the softkeys is dependent on the combination of software and flex. For example, you can reassign the softkeys on the generic Motorola NA102 flex, but you cannot reassign softkeys on the Cingular NA103 flex.

As long as the operator does not specify that the softkeys are locked, the flex will allow reassigning softkeys.

not so fast, the sprint krzr is the same way!

the network does matter... 3g voice calls sound much much m uch better than calls on gsm... especially since most of the gsm calls in ca are amr-hr

Posted by: bmnot

hmm, it sucks that you only have a choice between tmobile or cingular if you want to use a sim card for phone

cingular is the only option available to me right now because I want to use a sim card and tmobile's coverage of my area is crap, really

well hopefully, the v3xx works out as it seems to be a lot better than the v3i even though its missing a lot of features

i have no real use for all the extras of the v3xx but since they're both the same price for me, I might as well go with the v3xx

the european version of the v3xx has the same external camera. You must be thinking of the MAXX.

looks like the max would be great, too bad cingular doesn't have it currently

does anybody know when they're going to drop it? i've read that fcc has approved it for th eus

again though, that's something that's carrier-related; not necessarily brand-related. i realize i didn't mention sprint in my original post but still..

i'm only a consumer -- i have no idea what motorola, cingular or sprint has up their sleeves; but from what i can see, these limitations are set by the carriers, not the manufacturer.

which has a better mp3 player (not using itunes?)
can the v3i have the speakerphone on with flip closed?
is the v3i quadband?
can you delete itunes off the v3i?
