Gents/Ladies,

I was able to successfully CID unlock my Qtek 8500 using the instructions posted by Zone-MR here:

http://www.spv-developers.com/forum...read.php?t=6581

Let me start with an apology. I promised this a loooooooong time ago. I've been bogged down by work, and only needed this for myself recently, hence only just got round to uploading it.

Anyway....

1. Get itsutils: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/tools.html

2. Run pdocread.exe with no args. Take a note of the "uniqueid" value.

3. Run "pdocread -n 1 0x000000 0x10000 -b 0x4000 original-bdk1.nb" - you'll get a file.

4. Head over to http://www.spv-developers.com/strtrkCID/. Feed it the DOCID and the file you got from steps 2 and 3. It'll give you back anoter file.

5. Run "pdocwrite -n 1 patchedfile.bin 0x000000 0x10000 -b 0x4000" where patchedfile.bin is obviously to be replaced with the patched file you got from step 4.

6. There is no 6. Report feedback.

Thanks to itsme - who provided all the tools required for this (including the server script for the actual number crunching).

Enjoy!

I would like to add some issues which I was able to bypass:

1. Be sure to unlock applications via "SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe"
2. Upon extracting the "itisutils" as stated above, the procread.exe cmd did not work as advertised. Use the command, "procread.exe -l".

A similar screen to the following should appear:
customerid=00000000 uniqueid=<unique hex value>
disk <hex value>

3. Viola, follow the above instructions and you can have the following:

Now I have the daunting task of reconfiguring the phone. Will let everyone know if I experience any strange behaviors from this ROM update!!

Thanks for the help chawks2

I get five different disk values and five different uniqueID values when I try this.

Do you have any idea which one to use?

The top 2 should be zero's across the board.

The bottom 3 _should_ have the same hex number. Just take anyone of those.

Ok, I have been happy with the 3.6.251 ROM, most importantly, THERE ARE NO MORE MISSED CALLS!!

However, I do notice when I receive a voicemail message the external screen is now showing a strange "A" symbol instead of "Voicemail". Pales in comparison, to the previous issue where the phone could not perform it's primary function after 15m.

Does anyone know how you can change this information?

DOH!!

I have been looking at those numbers for a week now and never noticed that they were the same.

As for that A symbol...I get it too but I have the 3125 rom. The new rom must be a version of the 3125 rom. There was some talk about it here and I remember seeing some patches but I don't remember the details.

The "Angstrom" icon appearing on voicemail occurs because of the SubDisplayDll.dll. There were a few links in this forum and Modaco about changing the dll file. Would like to comment on the suggestions based on my experience.

There is no reason to rename the dll file. You can just rename the pointer in the registry HKLM\Services\SubDisplay - Change the value DLL to whatever file you want to use, the 3 iterations I have played with had the following results:

1. 3125 DLL - Angstrom symbol upon receiving voicemail.
2. 8500 DLL - Voicemail external screen is completely black/does not show voicemail indicator unless you open the phone.
3. 8500MOD DLL - cool blue icon for bluetooth, but you need to install the sdk.cab, * have not tested *.

I'm just dealing with the "A" symbol, when I have the time to edit the DLL will post my version.

I am having the worst time with this. I get to step 3 and it does not give me a file. What am I doing wrong? I am really confused and I am getting a bunch of gray hair from all of this. Can someone please help explain this better. Thanks in advance.

After struggling with this for a while myself, I found out from this thread at xda-developers.com that you need to use this version of itsutl (get it here from me). Using this version, and following the directions, the unlock on my Qtek 8500 proceeded perfectly. However, be sure you do an Application Unlock first (see this thread at xda-developers.com).

Good luck!

I've done all of that, over and over. I am so confused. Thanks for your help though.
