Why I am returning the v3xx...

This is a super phone. One of the best I have every purchased. I have used it 4 days. Mainly while I was out of town at a seminar.

First let me say that I have had 3 Rzrs. Been there, done that. Swore I would never buy another Moto with that crappy s-l-o-w interface. But when this 3G model came out I just have to try it. It's like someone said in another thread. New Mustang...looks like the 67' but total redesigned under the hood.

Everything about the phone is great. Reception and volume is amazing. 3G was very good. Tethered in the 3G area to my laptop and seriously couldn't tell much difference between it and DSL at home.

Now for the killer....

I simply cannot see who is calling me before I open the flip! I have tried various backgrounds. When I do see it, I have to strain because it is so dim! If anyone has a fix for increasing the light on the front display, I would definitely keep the phone. This is critical for me! So sad. I guess I'll just stick with the w810 for now.

In the V3/V3i/K1 Motorolas if you turned up the internal screen brightness it would make the outer display brighter too. I am not sure what else to try as I have not had the pleasure to play around with the V3xx that long.

the internal brightness level doesn't affect the outer screen

If you want to open the flip and NOT answer the phone, just set that option to Off. Depending on what key you want to it to answer, set the Multikey on or off as well.

OK...new developement...I changed the skin to Indium....MUCH more readable.

I'll give this a try a few days.

Why is this phone only a tri-band?

I agree that this seems like an odd move by motorola, most of their phones tend to be quadband. I guess with the introduction of the 2 3g bands there just wasn't the internal space . But i have no idea if there is even a size difference between quadband chips and tri-band and 3g .
